Rescue Me ID: 14-11-23-00514Bill (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adult Women Only
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bill is a sweet but very shy dog so he is going to need someone that has a lot of patience and understanding. I recommend a quiet house hold with older children over the age of 12. Bill came from a horrible hoarding situation and had very little to no interaction with people other than his owners. Bill will warm up but someone with the understandinfg and experience is his only hope at a bright and happy future. Bill is neutered and HW negative. He will sleep in a crate and may at times use his crate as his refuge from the outside world. Only serious inquires and experienced trainers may apply.

Beagle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Maggie Mae was taken in from a hoarding case in Northwest Alabama. Maggie, when taken in, knew very little of the human touch but has blossomed into a PERFECT little girl! She loves everyone and has proven, once again, that dogs should be the role model for human nature. After having to scavenge for food and push her way to get what little she got to keep from starving, this little girl still has the heart to give kisses and enjoy a touch of a human hand. If you are interested in adopting Maggie Mae, please call 205-495-1003. Vet references, personal references and a home visit may be required.

It was broken and wags jyst to one side. She'll talk with and love on you. ... (Read More) She's a sweetheart. (Less)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive,
 Abused/Neglected, Fearful/Anxious

Marsha came from a high kill shelter in Northeast AL. She is a shy girl but will let you pet her and talk to her. It appears she has been severely abused because of the way she will roll onto her back when approached. With the right handler and time, patience and lots of TLC, Marsha will make a great companion. She tested very light positive for HW and has just completed her treatments. She will be retested for HW and if God willing, she will be negative. I will only adopt to a quiet household with no more than two dogs.

He will absolutely steal your heart when you meet him! Unfortunately I need to find a home for him and his sister ASAP! I have a large breed dog in my apartment that does not get along well with others and I am having a hard time keeping them separate. Clyde would make such a great member to any family!

Bonnie and her brother were dropped on the side of the road and according to neighbors they had been wondering the streets for over a week when I found them. People reported they were extremely friendly and stayed around the same area everyday (assuming they were waiting on their owners to come back for them). She has a ton of personality and loves to give and receive affection! She is a little timid at first but warms up to you very quickly if you offer her the slightest bit of attention. She is such a sweetheart and would make the perfect family dog!

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Abe is one of 3 hound mixes that were saved from the shelter. Abe is a sweet boy who needs someone to show him how to be a pet. In his previous situation, he was not given TLC or showered with love as he should have. Because of this, he can appear to be very shy and reserved. He is slowly coming out of his shell and starting to show some personality. Abe would be a wonderful pet for a family. We anticipate that Abe is gonna shine very soon. He is UTD on vaccs, neutered and HW neg. Could you be that family to show Abe what its like to be a pet and be part of a family

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-26-00474Buddy (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We found Buddy on our street and he had been hit by a car. we took him to the vet and we nursed him back to health and updated his vaccinations. We think he may have some tooth decay, which we suspect may be from being homeless. He liked to chew rocks and was very malnourished when we found him. Other than that he seems very healthy.Although we never planned on keeping him, he has been with us for over a year. We have been a little picky about who he goes to, because truth is we love the little guy. He is so sweet, and we suspect he has had a hard life. But we have 3 dogs already in a 1500 square foot home. We just cannot keep him, but ... (Read More)won't stop until we find a kind person to take him. I think he would be good for an older couple, or even a family with children. He would love being the only dog and getting all the attention! lol. He is grateful for any attention shown to him, and just really craves love. A fenced yard is a must. He is potty trained. We have a doggy door and he comes and goes at his leisure. The vet gauged his age at 5-7 years. He is good with our other dogs (2 male, one female)and good with our grandchildren, ages 4 years-10 months. He is good with our cat,but wasn't at first. He wanted to chase him, but they are fine now. If you have a loving heart and home, please consider buddy for your companion. Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Kind-hearted Kate may not be a duchess or future queen of England, but she is royalty in our eyes. With her beautiful tan and white pinto coloring she certainly makes our 'best dressed' list. Kate came to us as a new mom with a few puppies, whom she was very nurturing to. We would love to adopt Kate out to a devoted family, couple, or individual with time to dote on this sweet girl and shower her with the love she gives to us people at the shelter and her fur-friends. Kate will be spayed before adoption, is UTD on all her shots, is between 4 and 5 years old, and has coloring like a Brittany Spaniel and is shaped a bite like a Beagle. Kate is ...     Pretty as a picture, Pinto lives up to the origin of her name, which means 'painted' in Spanish. We for one are glad our Pinto is the real thing and not just a painting because she is a precious girl. A 3 year old ray of sunshine in a fairly compact little body, Pinto gets along with dogs-both boy and girl fur-friends. Will you and/or your family be the one to adopt this dazzling girl, our prized Pinto? She is available at Second Chance Shelter in Boaz for $30.

Rescue Me ID: 13-08-23-00167Tasha (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Pretty little Tasha is a 3 year old, spayed Beagle mix. She weighs 30 lbs and is up to date on shots. She tested a very light positive for heartworms, but it is easily treatable with Heartguard twice a month. She has been on treatment since January. Tasha would be a perfect little girl for a retired couple - she is the perfect size for an RV or an apartment! Tasha would be happiest in a quiet family with no other dogs because she has had a rough life and feels very vulnerable, especially with loud noises. She loves cats, leash walks, and lying by her person's side. She is house and crate trained.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Alabama
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
