Rescue Me ID: 15-01-23-00295'Addie' (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

ALABAMA - 'ADDIES' STORY OF SALVATION AND LOVE - NOW ADDIE IS READY FOR ADOPTION! 'Wait, let me take her picture.' The woman said before she moved the car away from my limp body. It was a warm afternoon in September and like most days, you could find me near the junk pile taking a nap. The old woman who lived inside the trailer called me over for a piece of bread. I love to eat soft bread. Sometimes I went to sleep hungry, but the next morning, she would open the door and throw me a few pieces of that yummy bread. I felt safe and loved when she fed me, but that September afternoon was different. The old woman in the trailer had a friend ... (Read More)who didn't like me. She was there that afternoon and I could see her staring at me. It wasn't long ago that the woman's son shot at me to make me leave. Where would I find bread if I left? Every time she looked at me, I would look away. 'That dog has been out there three years, having puppies every six months, and we are the ones having to take them to the shelter, she said. It's time for her to go or I'm not helping you anymore.' Why was she upset with me? I didn't do anything wrong. My family left me on that dirt road when I was just a puppy. No one wanted me, except that woman who gave me bread. I ate the bread she offered and began to get very tired and weak. I crawled under the car, where I had slept so many times, and then my body collapsed. I laid there for a while, when I heard the woman's voice and then the car moved. She lifted me up off the ground and put me in the backseat of the car. I heard them talking about where to take me and then the lady who picked me up suggested they to take me to a clinic. I couldn't do anything. My legs were too weak to run away. Once we arrived at the clinic, I learned that my life was just beginning. You see, those women drove me to the clinic to die. The old woman's friend paid the doctor to take my life from me, but people started calling in donation money to save me. The old woman's friend got really mad in the clinic and demanded a refund when she learned that there were people who wanted me to have a second chance. I'm currently living in a foster home in south Alabama, but I can be adopted to a home anywhere in the state or long distance. Ms. Lisa didn't know anything about me, but she wanted to help me find my place in this world. She tells me I'm on a fabulous journey to find my forever home. It was scary starting over, but I warm up quickly to those who show me kindness. I've had my heartworm treatment and I feel great. I've had all of my shots and I won't be having anymore puppies. I'm estimated to be 3-4 years old and I'm medium size and about 55 pounds. There are dogs here that I play with, but I'm in search of my real home. Maybe you have a dog that could be my friend? I'm not afraid of storms or bad weather. I love having a yard and a place to lie in the sun for a morning nap. My foster Mom claims that I'm a loyal companion and the best dog in the house. Do you have room for me in your life? We could take this journey together. It can be forever. If you are interested in learning more about how to adopt Addie, please email were4dogs@gmail.com (Less)

We found Buddy on our street and he had been hit by a car. we took him to the vet and we nursed him back to health and updated his vaccinations. We think he may have some tooth decay, which we suspect may be from being homeless. He liked to chew rocks and was very malnourished when we found him. Other than that he seems very healthy.Although we never planned on keeping him, he has been with us for over a year. We have been a little picky about who he goes to, because truth is we love the little guy. He is so sweet, and we suspect he has had a hard life. But we have 3 dogs already in a 1500 square foot home. We just cannot keep him, but ... (Read More)won't stop until we find a kind person to take him. I think he would be good for an older couple, or even a family with children. He would love being the only dog and getting all the attention! lol. He is grateful for any attention shown to him, and just really craves love. A fenced yard is a must. He is potty trained. We have a doggy door and he comes and goes at his leisure. The vet gauged his age at 5-7 years. He is good with our other dogs (2 male, one female)and good with our grandchildren, ages 4 years-10 months. He is good with our cat,but wasn't at first. He wanted to chase him, but they are fine now. If you have a loving heart and home, please consider buddy for your companion. PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Alabama
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Alabama if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
