Scrappy needs a home with a lot of running room. A place with wooded acreage would be wonderful for him. He loves kids but we do not have any around for him to play with.

L.J. Aren't I a handsome little guy! Really cute and such personality! I'm L.J., a 'cute as a button' part Beagle boy. I don't know what the other part is...maybe it's just 'love'. My foster Mom thinks I was born in 2012...so, I am still a young man, but all of that puppy silly-business is over! I'm just the right size at 23 pounds....I'll still fit on your lap to be close to you! I'm living in a wonderful foster home where I have been so blessed. They have had me neutered, all of my shots, and I have had regular vet visits to keep me healthy. Mom says I am the PERFECT family fur baby - I get along with kids, dogs of all kinds and sizes and even cats! I was actually raised with cats. I don't care if the dogs/cats are boys or girls - I love them all! But Mom says that I am not good with chickens and small farm animals! I'm also VERY affectionate...Mom says I am a 'lover ' because I like to kiss your ears (not your face). I walk very nicely on a leash and I am even crate trained. I told you I was perfect! Mom says that the beagle part of me has a tendency to run out of the door if I can, so she says I will need a home with a fenced in yard to keep me safely at home. I don't want to ever get lost and be homeless or hit by a car....never! If you have been looking for the PERFECT FAMILY fur baby...you just found me, little L.J. (Less)

I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats. Why am I still searching? Will anyone ever love me? I have been searching for a place to call my home since January 2015... My life has been a roller coaster ever since I was puppy. I was involved in a hoarding, breeding situation where my siblings, mother, and I were thrown away and treated like garbage. Luckily, during the cold wintry month of January, Mayflower Animal Control took us in with open arms and tried their best in keeping us warm and safe. When a month past my family was saved except for me. I was tested heartworm positive which made my adoption rate impossible. But thanks to a wonderful sponsor I was able to receive treatment and am now heartworm negative. But sticking with foster families has been struggle. I was tossed around like a toy. Treated like brand new object and as soon as I became used and/or a crisis happened within the families they threw me away placing me back at the Control to live my last days. My heart has been torn from every angle and as soon as I fall in love my best friend(s) discard me. I am such a loyal companion who just wants to find my best friend and my forever family, but it seems that no matter how much my rescue friends promote me I always get looked over. If you are reading my bio I hope you consider giving me a chance to be apart of your life. All I want is a family to pleas and to snuggle up on the couch watching a late night movie. I have all the positive qualities you want in a dog. I am crate trained, leash trained, house trained, great with other dogs, tolerates cats, and is a guardian angel towards children. However, I am a little bit of an escape artist so I do require a fenced in yard. I am also a bit shy at first meeting people but give me a few days and my loving personality will shine. All I need is a chance to prove myself. |Animal ID: 10027Mittens (female)|
Mittens is an older lady that just wants to sit in your lap and be loved on. She would be great for someone that is home quite often. She doesn't do well with female dogs. she does get along with male dogs but it is not immediately. She needs someone that will constantly remind her she is not in charge. She is a huge love bug but we are working on personal space. She is current on vaccinations, rabies and is spayed. Her adoption fee does not include transport fee. Transport runs from $125-$140.

|Rescue Me ID: 13-08-21-00265Bogie (male)|
8/21/13 You only get a name like Bogie if you are a regular at a golf course and that's exactly where this little guy has been spending his days...actually months if the truth be known. His southern belle was keeping him company, but she has been adopted which has left Bogie looking for love. This handsome fella is a young adult, around 1 1/2 years old and is your classic, goofy, fun loving and always happy Beagle. If you know anything about this breed, you know you are in for a lifetime of entertainment if you take Bogie home. He is a neat dog with a charming personality, love of humans and other dogs and his tail never stops wagging. He is adjusting to life in the shelter, instead of the clubhouse, but would certainly rather be spending his days with a family of his own. Bogie enjoyed being 'just one of the guys' on the golf course, but the women at the shelter thinks he can do better...no offense fellas! Bogie just doesn't need a cart and clubs to get the ladies attention these days! Help us show Bogie what a family is all about by calling for a visit today! Visit us on Facebook at The Charleston Dog Shelter for more pictures of Bogie and our other great dogs! 5/7/14 Such a shame! Bogie is still waiting. He is such an awesome dog...someone is missing out! (Less)

|PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Arkansas|
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Arkansas if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
