Bessy Boo - The Beautiful Blonde Beagle. Bessy Boo showed up on our property a few months ago - along with 2 other adult mixed breed dogs. It took us 2 weeks to be able to pet her, but now she is very affectionate and minds very well. She is an amazing hunter -she was more than likely a hunting dog formerly - She brings me gifts frequently. BUT - she likes chickens, and our neighbors have chickens - Minus 2 as of today. We have no way of building a fence around our 28 acre property where she currently roams free with her friends. She just had puppies 8 weeks ago, and we have found homes for all but one. All were healthy, and she has just been an incredible mama dog. We could not have her spayed because she is heartworm positive (and she was already pregnant at the time). We have been treating her with Ivermectin monthly. Bessy Boo is in danger of being shot by our neighbors with chickens. Its just what they do in the country. (the only part of the country I hate!) We live in a one room cabin - and cannot keep her inside. She has to spend most of the day in her 4x8 dog house, and its breaking my heart. Please help! I would rather give her up than to chain her up - or have her shot by our neighbors. (Less)

Spike is a character! He is very loyal and likes to stick by your side. He has been chained to a tree most of his life so he likes to be able to run free. Spike loves human attention, but is good when left alone.

Scrappy needs a home with a lot of running room. A place with wooded acreage would be wonderful for him. He loves kids but we do not have any around for him to play with.

8 puppies were dumped at our farm. Males and females. We have kept them for about a year but are at a loss for time to give them the attention they need. They would make great companion dogs, security, service animals, pull carts etc. They love people. They have the beagle nose but the pyrenees loyalty.

|Rescue Me ID: 13-08-21-00265Bogie (male)|
8/21/13 You only get a name like Bogie if you are a regular at a golf course and that's exactly where this little guy has been spending his days...actually months if the truth be known. His southern belle was keeping him company, but she has been adopted which has left Bogie looking for love. This handsome fella is a young adult, around 1 1/2 years old and is your classic, goofy, fun loving and always happy Beagle. If you know anything about this breed, you know you are in for a lifetime of entertainment if you take Bogie home. He is a neat dog with a charming personality, love of humans and other dogs and his tail never stops wagging. He is adjusting to life in the shelter, instead of the clubhouse, but would certainly rather be spending his days with a family of his own. Bogie enjoyed being 'just one of the guys' on the golf course, but the women at the shelter thinks he can do better...no offense fellas! Bogie just doesn't need a cart and clubs to get the ladies attention these days! Help us show Bogie what a family is all about by calling for a visit today! Visit us on Facebook at The Charleston Dog Shelter for more pictures of Bogie and our other great dogs! 5/7/14 Such a shame! Bogie is still waiting. He is such an awesome dog...someone is missing out! (Less)

Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Arkansas if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
