He was upset and did not want to part with him but he has some medical issues and he had to move where he could afford to rent and also pay for his medical expenses. It appears that he had a stroke of some kind because he had visible paralysis in his one arm and a bit on his face. So both dogs are at the shelter. Both are very good dogs. The older dog the bigger of the two is Huck which is short for Huckleberry and he is 10 or 11 and very mellow. The smaller dog is Barkley and he is 5 or 6. I believe the shelter has him as Barley but his name is really Barkley. I saw them in the same kennel when I left on Saturday. They are just really great dogs and I really felt bad for them and especially the senior of the two. These 2 dogs CAN be separated or kept together. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
