Rescue Me ID: 14-08-21-00015Boo (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Boo, at only 14 weeks old and about 7 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 12 - 14 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Boo just in time. Boo is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new ... (Read More)life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with the purest of white and striking caramel that have come out since he received a good, sudsy bath after his release from the shelter. We'll post a photo of the clean and gorgeous Boo just as soon as we get one. Boo is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's so smart...very typical of the cross of a Doxie and a Beagle. He's bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of his scary start. Since Boo is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - he would form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs & humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior. We're open to Boo finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Boo loves gentle children as well but we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent puppy training regiment. Boo is considered to be a bit too young to neuter in Texas. He will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations and Farfel's will be happy to cover payment for Boo's neuter and microchip in Denver if our vet is used. Boo will arrive on transport in Denver on 8/22. Applications are currently being accepted for this exceptional and kind companion and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-08-20-00003Edgar (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

There are many, many Beagle lovers in the dog world...they're considered to be one of the most desirable breeds. This is due to their consistently great temperaments and overall intelligence. There's also no question that they're strikingly beautiful with their silky-soft coats with the gorgeous markings and their soft and expressive eyes. Edgar is an unusually striking Beagle with chocolate and golden touches shining through his coat..gorgeous! Edgar is 9 - 12 months old and just about 25 lbs... and so kind and waggy with all the dogs and humans that he got temperament tested with. He seems to have overcome any ill feelings and appears ... (Read More)to be at peace regarding the challenges of his early life. The Beagle mix is a solid combination both physically and in stability of temperament. It is for this reason that they seem to acclimate and be outstanding family members no matter their past lives. It's safe to say that Edgar has learned to live in harmony with every kind of being...he seems to have derived a true calmness and peace from overcoming the trials of his previous life. We feel strongly that Edgar's forever family should have the motivation to continue his socialization and offer him the gift of positive reinforcement group obedience training classes. Through these clear boundaries and leadership by his humans, Edgar will emerge as a well-adjusted and very bonded companion. He's so gorgeous both inside and out that he deserves a family that appreciates the gift of his temperament and is willing to show him boundaries through love and time spent. We are searching for committed retirees or a family with older children (12+) who spend lots of time at home as a forever situation for Edgar. He would enjoy the time spent together and would blossom with a family that considers their dog a valued member of their family. Edgar reportedly had very little car experience prior to his rescue'|.now he's growing to be a champ. This skill is easily worked with through crating and treats...especially as he gets the idea that a car ride can mean a walk, a hike or a fun day at a dog-friendly spot with his favorite people and dogs. We feel that Edgar would enjoy the company of a fun dog-friend (or cat..he seems to have no problem accepting them) but it's not mandatory for his happiness...it's more the companionship of a truly loving guardian. Edgar will return this loyalty and devotion a thousand times over. Edgar will develop a stunning coat over a short period of time...through sudsy baths, consistent brushing and great nutrition..Edgar will proudly strut his stuff and show off the amazing markings on his beautiful and healthy Beagle coat . Edgar will arrive on transport in Denver on 8/22. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. Rescue Me ID: 14-08-19-00042Francie (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

It seems that everyone loves Beagles and Beagle mixes. We do...especially if they're as sweet and so very loving as Francie. She was acknowledged for having a great personality and being so great to love on and cuddle at an extremely high-kill Texas shelter. This is a tough feat considering this facility holds up to 500 dogs on some sad days that have a very high turn-in. Francie, at 2.5 - 3 years old and just about 14 lbs is an exceptionally beautiful Beagle. You can tell when you look into her golden eyes that her short life has held sadness and challenges..but she would never be one to carry that around She's incredibly happy, so ... (Read More)engaging and just a positive spirit to spend your time with. Francie's great energy is contagious...she inevitably brings a smile to all those she encounters. Francie would be an exceptional family member...she loves her humans so much that her body starts to wiggle when they're near and a big hug is in the making. Francie, by her nature is a girl who would love to please...she simply needs to understand what is being asked of her. We think she'd be very successful in positive reinforcement group obedience classes. Francie would naturally bond with her family while learning skills that will make her a well-trained member of the community. We feel that Francie will be most successful as the only dog living in her household. She currently is being fostered with 4 other dogs and does very well in her relationship with them. Francie's challenge is only during feeding time when she becomes fearful that her food will be taken from her (it must speak of her experience in the shelter). She also loves her crate (it's become her safe spot) and we wouldn't want Francie to have to share it with another dog living in the home. She will do very well with dogs when she's out and about in the world and doesn't need to worry about sharing her food or treats. Francie loves to play and is overjoyed with the companionship of gentle kids 10+. She will be a long-term best friend who will always be waiting at the door with a wagging tail and a kiss of greeting. Francie will fit in with a family that enjoys hiking along CO trails or similar outdoor adventures. She is more than happy to engage in a walk or energetic play ...and smiles with joy at being included. We feel Francie would thrive in a family that includes their dog in their lives. We feel strongly that leaving her alone at home for many, many hours wouldn't work for this sensitive girl. She's so pleasant...and would be just about perfect with the benefit of positive reinforcement group training classes. We would love a family that would give Francie the benefit of this type of socialization. Francie would truly be a gift to anyone searching for a playful and extremely devoted best friend. Francie will arrive on transport in Denver on 8/22. If interested in this adorable and sweet companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-26-00436Jezebel (female)

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Jezebel is a super sweet 8-year-old beagle senior citizen with a ton of personality and lots of love to give. She is great around humans, a little scared of other dogs, and doesn't require a ton of activity, as she tires out pretty easily. She's smart as a whip and loves toys and games that make her solve puzzles. Her favorite things include naps, hiding toys, big hugs, and of course, treats. Nero is a spunky 6 1/2-year-old schnauzer-poodle mix with tons of energy and an endless supply of cuddles. He loves dog parks where he can play with other dogs off-leash and run around until his energy levels finally give out--he even runs like a ... (Read More)little deer does sometimes, providing a lot of entertainment. His favorite things are sitting in a human's lap, peanut butter, and playtime with every and anyone! These two wonderful pups have been together for 6 years and must stay together. They are a delight to have around and relatively low-maintenance for the right humans--they take a lot of naps! Because Jezebel has gotten older, she needs someone around more often. She needs to be in a situation where she can either go outside as she pleases to go potty, or be taken out every 6 hours or so. It will not be good for her to have a home where the human is gone a lot, as separation for long periods has begun to stress her out, which leads to panic and some barking, although not excessive. These two are perfect for humans who are retired, work from home, have someone home a lot throughout the day, or who can take them with on travels! They are great around kids, and take well to other pets whom they see on a regular basis. Supplies that can go with them include: a crate, plenty of toys, leashes, two dog-beds, and a gate in case a room needs to be sectioned off (beagles like kitchens maybe a little too much.) There will be a modest rehoming fee of $75 altogether. I have loved these two with everything I have for nearly all their lives, and my job has just become too demanding for me to give them the time and care that they need and deserve. Please email or text to set up a time to meet with them! (Less)

BUCK is 10 weeks old as of 7/23/14. He and his littermate were orphaned and no one had any information on his mother or father. Our best guess is Chihuahua-Beagle - would that be a Cheagle? Anyway, he is a feisty little guy for such a wee one. Buck is up to date on vaccinations and will be adopted out under a neuter contract. Adoption fee $250, plus a $50 deposit. Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Rylee! This sweet female Boxer/Beagle mix was found after being abandoned on the streets as a very young pup. She has a happy disposition even though she has suffered from a lack of socialization, especially with other dogs. Rylee loves playing with toys, cuddling and going for long walks. She's a trick performing Guru!! From classic obedience commands to funny feats that are just downright cute, Rylee can entertain you with her amazing abilities! Rylee is looking for the perfect best friend who can provide a comfortable daily routine. Rylee would really love to be the one and only fur-baby in your life, so she can have all of your ... (Read More)attention for herself! She's a very loyal companion and has a lot of love to give. She is not suited for going to the dog park, and she would love to go for walks, hikes or playing in a fenced or large backyard instead. Rylee would be better suited for a home with older children (or none) as opposed to having young ones around due to her excitability. Dogs like Rylee, a precious seven year old sweetheart, are often overlooked in shelters due to age, but don't let her age fool you! Rylee is lively and playful with a clean bill of health. Are you looking for a new best friend and loving family member to spend Forever with? If you'd like to meet or adopt Rylee, please contact Alana Scheilter at Telephone: (719) 351-7348 Email: alscheitler@gmail.com (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Colorado
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
