Animal ID: 16-04-23-00236Winston (male)

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This animal is available to licensed rescue groups only.  Please do not enquire unless with a licensed rescue group. Wonderful purebred beagle in need of a good home. We love him very much-unfortunately, our busy lifestyle is not compatible with his needs. We live downtown, and he needs a home with a yard. Winston is a 7-yo beagle. He is a (mostly!) quiet dog. He is house-trained. He is looking for a stable home with a loving family. Winston can be quiet and want to be left alone at times. He tends to hide under a blanket in his bed when he is feeling this way. He does tend to romp around with other dogs and has great energy for a dog of his age. I've seen him play like he thinks he's still a puppy! He knows 'sit' and 'stay' very well. We use 'let's ... (Read More)go' when telling him its OK for him to move after being told to stay. Winston can display signs of anxiety and will dig through the trash if he is feeling ignored or left alone for too long. Plenty of reassuring petting helps a lot with this. Winston doesn't like car rides that much and can tend to whimper, but doesn't have a problem with incontinence on car rides. Winston prefers being the only dog in the household or maybe one other dog for company and play, but is clearly less than thrilled if there are many dogs present when all he wants to do is nap! If you are a family without more than one dog that wants a great beagle that doesn't need all that much attention please pick him. He's a very sweet dog! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-02-23-00022Bolen (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bolen is about 5 (?) months old, and our best guess is that he is a beagle/lab/shepherd mix. He got a rough start in life, was born to feral parents, brought to Colorado, and given a second chance at life. He was scared of just about everything, but with lots of patience and love, he is learning that being a part of a human family is lots of fun. Once you earn his trust, he will follow you around and snuggle with you every chance he gets! Bo's forever family will need to have a lot of patience, and use only positive reinforcement when it comes to training. He does not respond well to any form of negative training techniques, and they will ... (Read More)only set him back. He is very food motivated, which makes training a breeze! He gets along great with other dogs, and would do well in a home with a confident, outgoing doggy sibling to show him the way. Bo does good with children, but can be a little skittish, so would probably do best with kiddos over the age of 5. (He is being fostered with kids and has been around kiddos as young as 1, but is a bit nervous around the littler ones.) He likes to be outside when he has company, but really just wants to be with his family, so he would also be a good apartment dog. He is house trained and crate trained, knows a his basic commands, and is working on loose leash walking. Bo is such a sweet boy, and has so much love to give! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Colorado
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Colorado if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
