Rescue Me ID: 18-03-06-00295McKenzy (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

FOSTER LOCATION: Boise, ID McKenzy is a 10 year old Boston/Beagle mix who came to us because she was not doing well in a shelter environment. We were glad to take her in, and her foster family has quickly grown attached to her sweet demeanor and easy going attitude. Don't let her age fool you, this is a busy little gal that will do best in an active environment. McKenzy bonds easily and quickly with people; she just wiggles with joy whenever she sees a human. She was obviously much loved and very spoiled at some point, as she wants to be on furniture and sleep under the covers. McKenzy is house trained and knows how to let you know she ... (Read More)needs to go outside. We are told that she is a counter surfer, and can jump on the counter despite her small size. She hasn't done this in her foster home, but we do not leave food on the counters. We have seen her jump over a pet gate however when she was left alone for a few minutes. She will need a family where someone is home more often than not or can take her with them. She has separation anxiety, and while this is manageable we don't want her to go to a home where she's left alone 8-10 hours a day several days a week. She becomes highly agitated and stressed being alone and crated. It is possible to leave her for a few hours at a time and she's not destructive in her crate. With some consistency in her life this should subside within a few months. McKenzy is wonderful with dogs and cats, and would do best with a little buddy to pal around with outside will keep her busy. She is quite active and would love to go for long walks/hikes where she can really use her nose; but remember she will follow that nose anywhere so she is not an off leash dog and will need a securely fenced yard. Weighing in at 30 pounds this girl is solid and strong. She is decent on a leash, but will pull when her nose tells her too-and can she pull! This is a lovely little girl who will melt anyone's heart who meets her. She has a kind soul and needs to find a forever home who will help her feel loved and secure. If you can offer McKenzy a fun loving active home please complete an adoption application today: McKenzy has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped McKenzy's adoption fee is $75 (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-12-30-00272Scutter (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Scutter, short for Scutterbotch, is a high-energy female mix that needs a great deal of attention and room to move. We think she is a mix of beagle, Jack Russell and Staffordshire terrier. She interacts with our 5yr old male Monte, a chocolate lab/red heeler mix, and neighborhood dogs through fences. But she can jump and be aggressive with biting and barking when she feels protective toward us. She can be sweet when calm, has been through obedience classes: sit, lie down, come to her name, 'kennel', and can do figure 8s between legs when cued with food. She is motivated both by food and by play, but her attention to task is very short. ... (Read More)She is in the kennel most of the day, as we both work, hence the need for attention. She loves her belly rubs and as you see by her picture, has a sense of playfulness. She could be a problem dog if returned to the Humane society where we adopted her, so we seek a loving family who has the space for her to run, the love to keep her active and well-trained, and the attention for her to feel secure and safe. PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Idaho
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Idaho if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
