Beagle Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

They were taken in by our sister shelter in Tennessee and they were dirty, hungry, and full of bug and tick bites! We just knew that we needed to bring them to Illinois and find them loving homes! They have flourished in their foster home and now that they are getting the proper nutrition, they look like different pups!! They are goofy, wiggly, puppies and are super sweet . They do have high energy and love everyone they meet. Mo is smallest and very lovable. Curly is the largest and silliest, and Larry is more of a take charge pup. They honestly are extremely friendly wiggly puppies. They are all full of puppy energy and love and are ... (Read More)looking for their FUR-ever homes. Our adoption fee is $295 and includes neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, up-to-date on shots, fecal, deworming, frontline, 1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, micro-chipping and 30 days of shelter care insurance. Since we are just babies, we need a home where there will be someone to care for us during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a 'teen' or adult dog. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email Kathy for an application at caseysdogs@yahoo.com. Please join us August 23, 2014 for our 'Wag-a-thon' at the Peg Bond Center in Batavia, IL. It is one of our main fundraisers this year and we need walkers! Please consider bringing your dog, your family and friends. Registration is only $25 and you receive a t-shirt. The walk-a-thon will help us pay down our veterinary bills for the dogs and puppies we have rescued this summer. We have saved 3 dogs with broken legs that have needed orthopedic care, 9 Heartworm positive dogs that have now been treated, one puppy that is blind and deaf, 5 dogs that were 9+ years and needed extensive medical care and 20+ moms with their puppies. This is in addition to the adult dogs that have come in emaciated, needing dental, and of course all needing spay and neuter, shots and micro-chipping. This is a great way to spend a Saturday morning and earn a T-shirt to boot! If you have adopted from Casey's Safe Haven Dog Rescue and 485 of you have; we would love to have you join our walk and bring your pup for updated photos. We will have a professional photographer there for pictures! For those of you that are competitive you can win prizes by asking others to sponsor your walk. (You do not have to raise additional money to walk) When you register you make a personal webpage to share with friends, family and coworkers - great prizes for our top pledge earners. But again, you can walk with only your $25 registration fee! This is a beautiful walk along the River and only two walks were allowed this year. We received one of the spots; help us make this a success. We hope to see you there! Register Now at: www.caseyswagathon.dojiggy.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-28-00236Sweet Pea (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Vaccinations Current

Hello! My name is Sweet Pea and I live up to my name, I am SWEET! I was saved from a shelter in Alabama and brought to Illinois with my 3 puppies. I am a very young mom at about 1 1/2 years old. I weigh about 25 lbs. The vets and my foster mom think that I am a Beagle maybe mixed with Bassett Hound on account of my short legs, long body, and that my nose is always to the ground outside. I do have a bit of a howl but only when someone comes to the door or when I see something outside. I enjoy going for walks and do well on my leash. I am somewhat shy, so I will need parents that understand that I have been through a lot in the last few months ... (Read More)and I just need patience and a gentle hand. I am an absolute love bug, I love to be pet and sit close to my human friends. I live with several dogs in my foster home and I do fine with all of them. There are also cats here and I find them interesting. I have chased them, but I am learning that cats are NOT for me to chew on! I enjoy playing with dog toys, and I like sturdy toys and bones to keep me busy during the day. I am housebroken and I am crate trained, although I would prefer to have someone who is home most of the day to keep me company. If I am left too long I tend to get bored and at my foster home, I shredded my bed, twice! I didn't do it to be bad, I just really don't like being left alone, especially in my crate. I do sleep through the night in my crate, but I would prefer to sleep in my new parent's bed! If you'd like to add a cute, sweet, girl to your family, that's me! Sweet Pea's adoption fee is $295 and includes her shots, rabies vaccination, fecal test, deworming, micro chipping, spay, HW preventative, frontline, 30 days of shelter care insurance, and her first vet visit at one of our participating vets, Please email Kathy for an adoption application caseysdogs@yahoo.com. Your entire family must be present if you would like to make Sweet Pea part of your family. Our goal is to ensure that Sweet Pea is a good fit for your family and that you are a good fit for Sweet Pea. (Less)

Mindy was saved from a high kill shelter in Tennessee. She was a stray before she lwas found and ived in a shelter for four months. She is a 20 pound beagle and is approximately 13 months old. Her sweet face and personality will melt your heart. She gets along with other dogs and loves people. When we saw her in the shelter, she stole our hearts! All of the other dogs were barking and the shelter was alive with barks and howls...Mindy was just quiet and sat patiently in her run...waiting for someone to choose her. We knew we had to bring her to Illinois to find her forever home. Mindy is a sweet, sweet girl. She has a very calm side as ... (Read More)well and an outgoing side.     Pepper was found as a stray near Joplin, MO. She is approximately 1 1/2 years old and 48 lbs. She is currently in a foster home with another dog and loves to play, play, play! Pepper is potty trained, crate trained, walks well on a leash, knows her basic commands, and rides well in a car. Pepper is an energetic dog, and will thrive with an active family or owner that is patient with her, committed to continuing her training, and likes to laugh (at just how silly she is). She loves to play with other dogs, go on long walks and run around in the backyard. She would do best with a person who likes to run, take long walks or bicycle. Another ... Pepper is a wonderful, sweet dog & will be a great companion to the person(s) that are willing to help her get through her 'Big Puppy' stage!     Sam is a very sweet, calm and loving, nine-year-old, 36-pound, male, tri-color Beagle looking for a loving guardian. Sam is great with other dogs and cats. He's a chubby boy who will dance for treats. Typical of a Beagle, he can sniff out a treat from across the room. Sam is good in the house, on walks and in the car. He is a great dog really good with my newborn also would be a good companion for an older person. He has some skin allergies and takes medication for it and requires weekly baths. He does not need a lot of exercise he is happy with a walk around the block. Charlie is microchipped, crate trained, and has had some basic dog training. This has been a hard decision but we would love to see Charlie with someone who had more time for him.

Eldridge loves his foster mom, is great with kids, but loves men even more. He loves to snuggle with you on the furniture and spoon with you in bed. PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Illinois
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
