Eldridge is a very sweet, snuggly, and gentle, eight-year-old, 31-pound, male tri-color Beagle looking for a loving guardian. Eldridge loves his foster mom, is great with kids, but loves men even more. He loves to snuggle with you on the furniture and spoon with you in bed. As sweet as Eldridge is with people, he is not good with other animals. He is looking for a home as the one and only pet, and preferably with a fenced in yard in which to play. He can be reactive on leash - which makes him difficult to walk in neighborhoods with a lot of other dogs. Eldridge was found as a chubby stray and brought to Chicago Animal Care and Control. He ... (Read More)went to live in a foster home where he loves to be bathed, stroked and loved. He knows the command sit and will also dance for a treat. He is very food-motivated which will help in his continued training. Eldridge is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, de-wormed, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. He suffers from mild seizures - so far only about one a week, so no medication has been needed. The seizures are usually brought on by stress ... so he's looking for a low-stress environment. Very sweet tri-color male Beagle 7 years old. Adopted after being used as a research dog for 5 years. Was in a home with 3 children, but loud noises scared him so given to grandma. At 83, she can no longer care for him. Is mostly house trained. Only has an occasional accident when grandma leaves the home. Doesn't bark, loves attention, walks and cuddling. Dublin is a really great dog! Dublin is social, friendly, loving, and enjoys running and playing with other pooches at the lake, dog parks as well as the neighborhood school play lot. Dublin walks well on a leash and will even sit nicely at each curbside for cars to pass. Dublin enjoys a good game of tug a war, and showing off all his talents and tricks. I rescued Dublin from a shelter just under 2 years ago. I have loved having Dublin in my life, really I have. However, I'm finding it challenging to balance Dublin's needs along with my own personal job demands and responsibilities which have recently grown and now require much longer ... (Read More)days as well as a 6 day workweek. Added to this, I broke my foot (the bone on the very bottom) that's not healing properly as I keep reinjuring myself - (I don't have a yard for Dublin). This is a sad decision for me, but I know it's best for both of us. I'm not asking for a donation fee; I just want to make sure Dublin finds a good home. P.S. Just this last week, I started Dublin on the usual required heartworm 1X a month pills and have purchased the supply needed thru Nov and will pass over. I also will purchase a large bag of food and treats (we do grainfree) to get you started, as well as offer all at no cost, all of Dublin's belongings, i.e.. stainless bowls, food mat, toys, winter coat, portable/collapsible house, furminator brush, etc. (Less) Cook County Chicago, IL 60645 MAP IT!

| PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Illinois | |||||||||
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
