Rescue Me ID: 17-12-11-00430Lacy (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Lacy Hound mix 8 - 10 weeks Lacy is a striking puppy with beautiful patches of brindle on her face and paws! She is a tiny thing (for now), but that doesn't let it stop her. She is adventurous and loves to explore her surroundings, inside and out. Lacy hasn't met a dog that she doesn't like! She is always ready to play with her foster siblings and isn't afraid of dogs much bigger than her. She also LOVES people. She is extremely friendly and is always eager to be scooped up so she can wiggle and happily gives out tons of kisses. She even gets carried around by small kids and enjoys it! Lacy is also a lover! She delights in being the ... (Read More)center of attention and can't wait to be cuddled. She is all about snuggling with people. Whether it's in a chair, on the couch, or in bed, she will seek you out and find a special spot to hunker down with you. She especially favors burrowing into the crook of your arm! Lacy is working on housebreaking and will go to the door. Since she is so young, she needs to be let out often. However, she has been able to make it through the night without any accidents. She tolerates being in the crate after some grumbling and will settle down, but she would much rather be with you. She is eager to please and is already learning some simple commands like 'come' and 'sit'. Lacy is looking for that special family that will spoil her and give her plenty of cuddle time! Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies. Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a 'teen' or adult dog. Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed. (Less)

Meet Milo! Beagle Mix 5 yrs old Hello! My name is Milo. A 5 year old lovebug err I mean Hound Mix from Tennessee. I love being outside in the fenced in back yard running around playing with my foster sister or playing with my squeaky tennis ball! My foster sister and I both love chasing squirrels back up into the trees. We tell them to stay where they belong by barking at them from the base of the tree!     Louie |%81 This guy here has the most beautiful eyes, they are a light brown and sometimes look to be an orange - stunning and sweet boy. Longer air maybe like a lab but smaller body more like maybe a beagle - I'd guess 40 45lbs. Love this guy, he's misunderstood - he's jumpy, kind of all over the place. I feel that he wants to be loved, and with that he tries to make you laugh but instead he finds himself getting into trouble because he can knock things over or nip/bite. He's just a high energy guy who doesn't know how to be loved. He shows off and I feel that gets him into trouble. Louie means well, he needs someone who is not ... Personality: Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

*MUST LIVE IN 50-MILE RADIUS OF ITASCA (A SUBURB OF CHICAGO) WITHIN THE ILLINOIS BORDER TO ADOPT, NO EXCEPTIONS!* Aaaaa-woooo! That is beagle-speak for HELLO! My name is Steinbeck and I am a 6-year-old beagle/basset mix. If you are looking for a devoted, loveable, funny companion, it is your lucky day because I am available for adoption through Fetching Tails Foundation. I am a super handsome tri-color (white, tan, black) fellow, and like the stories by the author after whom I am named, I am loaded with heartwarming character: I am goofy, loving, entertaining, and if you give me the forever home I long for, I will never leave your side! ... (Read More)My Fetching Tails friends saved me from Chicago Animal Care & Control, where my previous owner left me when they could no longer take care of me. I needed quite a bit of TLC when my foster mom brought me home; I was very overweight and had a fully ruptured ACL in one of my hind legs; my other ACL later ruptured as well because of the long-time strain of being obese. I ended up needing surgeries to repair the ligaments in both of my hind legs, and thanks to lots of TLC from my foster family, I have lost about 20 pounds (I weigh about 35 pounds now, which is a pretty healthy weight for me and I shouldn't get heavier than that again!) It has been quite a long journey to recover from my surgeries with lots of bed rest and rehabilitative exercises, but I am getting around much better now and I feel like a new dog who is ready to continue on my life adventure to find my forever family! I am a happy-go-lucky guy, and like many hounds, I love to spend time in the great outdoors sniffing all the lovely smells. I would love a fenced yard at my forever home so I can enjoy exploring and sunbathing. I also get along well with other dogs; I have a beagle, a doxie, and a small 'mystery mix' as my BFFs at my foster home. I am playful, but have had to sit back and watch them run around while my leg heals; thankfully they also like long cuddle sessions so we have had a good time sharing my doggie bed. I would prefer a forever home with another dog or two so we can be buddies and keep each other company when our people leave the house. I think I would do best with older kids (10+), and I would also do best in a forever home without cats. More than anything, I would love for my humans to be home more often than not because I simply love being around my people. It makes me so happy to lay near you, receiving belly rubs and head massages. My foster family tells me I am a well-behaved boy, as well. I am potty trained, and don't chew things I'm not supposed to in the house. I have a couple favorite toys I enjoy, and if you have to go out to run errands, I will settle down on my dog bed and wait for you to return. I do think I would do best in a single-family home instead of a townhouse or condo; I am what my foster mommy calls a 'storyteller' and I like to beagle bark to tell you all about my day, so it would be a good idea if we didn't share a wall with a neighbor who might not like my talking skills. I also need a forever home without stairs; I do fine with the one step to go outside at my foster home, but a full flight would be a challenge for me and I would be happiest if I didn't have to deal with all that! My fosters can fill you in with more details about my progress and how to make sure my legs continue healing properly! Like most beagles and bassets, I have a stubborn streak but am am also very smart; I know a few commands including sit and go to bed. I am treat motivated and think we could have some fun at training classes to see how much more I could learn! If you are looking for a dog who will be happy to be by your side through all of life's adventures, I am the handsome, attentive, LOVING boy for you! If you would like to arrange a meet-and-greet with me, please fill out an application and get in touch with my friends at Fetching Tails soon! As much as I love my foster home, I am ready to start my 'happily ever after' story with my forever family! Rescue Me ID: 16-08-25-00173Callee (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Callee is an affectionate, silly girl full of love!! Upon first meeting, she may be shy, but given some time and love, she will come running right into your arms! Her energy level varies from average to high. She loves to snuggle and enjoys playing with her foster brother. She may be tiny, but she is tough! She is able to keep up with his quick running and wrestling. Callee has mastered some basic commands such as sit, (lay) down, and come when called. She has even completed a training class complete with certificate! Her leash walking skills have improved tremendously, although it is highly recommended to walk Callee on a harness. ... (Read More)Callee has slept in a crate, but much prefers to be out of the crate. She gets anxious when being in a crate for long periods of time. Callee was crated during the day, but has graduated to being gated in a room when home alone. Calle would do fine in a home as an only dog or a home with another small dog. When out in public, Callee becomes very timid around other dogs, especially the bigger dogs. Callee needs a slow introduction to new dogs and a fair amount of time to adjust. She has not had much exposure to her feline friends, but when she has been around them, she let them go about their business and just watched them. A tall fenced in yard is best for Callee as she has a high prey drive and would not do well on a tie-out. She has been able to clear a 5 foot gate. When Callee gets overly excited, she can jump and be mouthy. For this reason, it would be recommended that Callee goes into a home without young children. If you are interested in meeting Callee, please go to our website www.alwaysroom4morepaws.com to learn about our adoption process and fill out an application. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Illinois
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Illinois if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
