Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Meet Petra! Petra is a puggle and estimated to be around 8 years old. We were contacted by our vet after Petra's previous owner dropped her off stating she had cancer and wanted her euthanized. Our vet checked her out and found a fatty tumor but no other health concerns. They gave us a call and we of course said we would take her on. It seemed Petra did not have much socialization prior to joining us. Since arriving she has learned to play and interact with other dogs. She is dog and cat friendly, but she does not like dogs with hyper, puppy energy. She will coexist with them but prefers calmer, mature dogs. She is not a morning dog and ... (Read More)loves to sleep, yet she is still very active when she is awake. She loves to run and play around. Petra loves to snuggle and she would do fine around children that know how to act around and respect dogs. Petra is spayed and up to date on vaccines. She is house and crate trained. She is dog and cat friendly. Good with kids that know how to act around and respect dogs. Interested in this dog/cat?     Tom is a 1 yr old beagle mix that was left in an outdoor pen at a rural shelter. He was sweet but terrified. It was obvious that he had been abused. But with time, patience and gentle handling he has shown us that he is a smart, fun and affectionate boy. He is crate-trained and house-trained, but his new family needs to be consistent and set boundaries and rules. He was most likely an outdoor dog, He would love a fenced yard and lots of walks. He is neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for heartworms & Lyme disease and microchipped. His adoption fee is $150. Our application is located at ...     Jody: 4 year old female beagle Great with everyone & everything Unsure of potty training Up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped. Adoption fee - $200.00 We love our Jody girl! She is as amiable & easygoing a dog as we've ever met. She definitely wins the 'Miss Congeniality' award! Jody is easily accepted by other dogs, even those who are a bit grumpy; if they grumble at her, she just trots on her way. She loves to wrestle & chase with her doggy friends; she's a bit of a tomboy! Jody has the most engaging smile & her warm brown eyes will draw you in for sure! She's fabulous with people & kids as well and is extremely ... (Read More)affectionate & friendly with everyone. She does have some separation anxiety and will cry if she's left alone so needs to go to a home where she's not left alone, preferably with a dog that will give her the play time she enjoys so much. Adoption fee - $200.00 When you look under 'outgoing' in the dictionary, you are sure to see a picture of Buttercup! She's the epitome of the 'social butterfly'! She loves people of all shapes & sizes and eagerly greets everyone she meets. She's never met a stranger!  Abused/Neglected, Fearful/Anxious

We found him 2 years ago abandoned in the woods, neglected, malnourished and covered in ticks. He's since been treated for Lyme disease but unfortunately put on too much weight after that. He's a sweet, loving dog who still enjoys playing fetch and going on walks. Loves to cuddle. He gets separation anxiety when left alone and will howl for hours at a time if crated for too long, but will willingly go in his crate in exchange for a treat. Potty trained, but does howl loudly when he needs out. Not good with other dogs but seems to be ok with cats, although still very shy. Good with kids as long as they're gentle. Beagle Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet this sweet bundle of cuteness, Grimm. Grimm is came to us from Kokomo where he was surrendered to a vet's office due to health issues. Grimm has puppy strangles, which if untreated or not treated properly can be fatal or have life long complications. Grimm has been doing well and had been staying with a vet tech until he was healthy enough to join us at AHS. With proper treatment Grimm will grow out of strangles and live a normal life. He has been doing great with treatment and is ready for his forever home (with a family that understands his condition and stays on top of it) We believe Grimm to be around 4 months old and a beagle/min ... (Read More)pin mix. Grimm will need to continue his medical treatment until he shows no signs of strangles. He also needs to be monitored as he could have a flare up until he has been cleared completely. He is your typical happy, hyper, playful puppy. He needs a home where he will get a lot of attention. We would prefer a home with another well balanced dog that can show him the ropes and also play with him. No small children since he will require a lot with his strangles. He is good with cats. Grimm is house and crate trained. He needs a fenced in yard. His new family will need to continue training with him and monitor his health closely. He needs experienced pet owners. Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Luna is very active and loving. She enjoys playing fetch and going for walks/hikes. She obeys her commands well (sit, stay, down, wait, come, drop it) and she walks well on a leash. She is a lovable, kind dog. She is also well behaved when she is home alone and sleeps on the couch throughout the day while we are at work. Lately we have been worried about her safety as our neighbor's dog has been threatening to her and our other dog, Leo. He's a pit bull who has been aggressive and is fully capable of jumping our chain-link fence. While not all pit bulls are aggressive, this dog has already blooded our second dog and we are scared of the ... (Read More)consequences should he jump our fence and come into full contact with them. We cannot afford to move or put in a privacy fence at this time, and our neighbors have not shown an interest in redirecting their dog's behavior.     Meet handsome Mr. Blue! Blue became a Waldo's dog when his owner died. He is a terrier mix, is a little under 20lbs with long legs and a little nub-tail. We believe Blue to be around 9 years old, but he's still got pep in his step! Blue came into rescue with his lifetime companion, Haley. It's not a requirement to adopt both Haley and Blue, but if you happen to want them both, that would be great! He is currently being fostered with Haley and 3 other dogs of various sizes and he does fine with all of them. Blue loves attention, he loves treats, and he gets his little nub-tail going every time he gets lovings......beware-he does love to give ... (Read More)kisses! Blue is very adventurous and likes to check things out so he will require a securely fenced in yard. Blue can be a little grouchy If startled while he's sleeping or when he's eating so he will need to be adopted to a home with no small children. Blue loves to cuddle and he just always wants to be right where his foster mama is. Blue would make a great companion for someone who is home most of the time. Blue is housebroken, does fine with free-roaming, is neutered, UTD on vaccines, is heartworm negative and on monthly flea/hw preventative. Looking for a small, cuddly, buddy? Mr. Blue is the guy for you! Adoption fee $100 Due to the high volume of emails received, we recommend you visit our website and fill out an adoption application. Rescue Me ID: 16-05-31-00402Bill (male)

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

BILL: 8-9 YEAR OLD BEAGLE GREAT WITH OTHER DOGS, ADULTS, OLDER KIDS NOT POTTY TRAINED 'Our Bill is such a funny, quirky little guy. He always wants to know what is going on around him and can consistently be found right in the middle of all the activity ... eyes bright and inquisitive, tail wagging ... eager to discover what all the excitement is about. Bill trots around as he keeps track of the antics of his doggy pals as well as the endeavors of his human friends. Because of his bowed frown legs, his gait is unique and adorable ... he looks like a grizzled old cowboy who's ridden one to many horses! It's impossible not to ... (Read More)smile as you watch him scuttle around in his efforts to keep track of all the proceedings. Because of his inquisitive and social nature, Bill doesn't like to be shut away from the action or his people and will raise a bit of a fuss to let you know he's not happy. But as soon as the impeding gate or door is opened, and he can once again commence his explorations, he's perfectly content. He's entertaining to say the least. Bill is affable and gets along well with other dogs. Although he isn't interested in rough housing, he does enjoy gentle play with his friends. Although he wants to be nearby his people, he is not overly needy and doesn't have to receive attention continually. But if you take the time to scratch his rump and tickle under his chin, Bill relishes the affection. Bill came to us with a chronic and serious infection in both of his ears which had gone untreated for a long time; he was in excruciating pain, poor boy! Because of this, he is wary of having his ears touched and will yelp and pull away if he thinks they are going to be handled. For this reason, we don't recommend that he be in a home with children under 10 years of age. Although partially potty trained, William hasn't quite grasped the concept that should only take care of business outside so will need some patience and consistency to achieve fully house broken status. If you'd like to give this charming, eccentric fellow the 'forever home' he deserves, don't hesitate to contact us. Bill's adoption fee is $100; he's neutered, microchipped and current on vaccinations.' PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Indiana
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Indiana if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
