Rescue Me ID: 14-12-04-00155Emma (female)

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Emma is a 6-7 year old beagle with a heart of gold. Her owner ran into a streak of bad luck and (through no fault of her own) she ended up in rescue. She has adjusted to her foster homes as if she has lived there all her life! She picks up on schedules, where doors lead, her sleeping arrangements, and her furry friends (two feline foster sisters) very well. She is easy-going and loves to be around people of all ages. While she is a small girl, she is carrying around a little more weight than what is preferred. She came to us at 38 pounds and should be down around 25 pounds. We have made some diet changes and are getting her daily exercise, ... (Read More)which has allowed her to shed a few pounds already! She is more energetic and seems to have more 'pep' in her step with just these small changes! When Emma came to us she also had a growth on her chest that needed to be removed. It turned out to be non-life threatening, but it was probably causing some discomfort due to its size. She has now healed and is feeling great'|so it is important that her forever home be consistent with her activity level and healthy habits so she can continue to thrive! Emma is a happy girl who just goes with the flow. She enjoys taking walks and has even started to 'jog' a little. She likes to explore and is very curious, she could spend hours in the backyard just nosing around. Emma absolutely loves people and likes to be wherever they are, whether hanging on the couch, napping, or watching TV'|she just loves to be near you! Emma loves to meet new people and is very polite when meeting other dogs. She walks well on a leash and is not even a big barker, unless you ask her to 'speak'! Emma is housetrained, kennel-trained, has had her teeth cleaned, is up-to-date on her vaccinations and has also had her heartworm test. Emma has a wonderfully sweet personality and could fit into almost any home environment. If you would like to meet Emma, please contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call319-929-6657. The adoption application can be completed at www.furfunrescue.org. Emma is waiting to meet you and find her forever home. Indoor homes only. Adoption donation $200. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-11-17-00214Pacino (pu-chee-no) (male)

Beagle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Pacino is incredibly affectionate, loves to cuddle and be petted. The scar on his face has been examined by a vet from where we used to live and she said that it will not cause him harm but his fur does grow underneath it still and can cause pressure like a pimple. He has started growling at my 2 year old son and there are no aggression treatment classes near enough that I can afford to go. He would do very well, I think, with a couple that are looking for a loyal, loving dog. I hate to get rid of him but I can't risk it with my kids. He's a good dog. Doesn't like to be separated from his people though. He is housebroken fairly well ... (Read More)but you know how hounds are. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Iowa
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
