Rescue Me ID: 16-12-04-00279Mia (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Miss Mia is a 5 year old, 40 pound Puggle (Beagle/Pug Mix). Unlike the rest of us who have no excuse for being pleasantly plump, Mia has a low functioning thyroid and had not been treated. Mia has been tested and is now on thyroid meds which are very inexpensive and is losing weight. She does well with other dogs and cats. Mia is just learning to play and does a play bow and then bounces and runs in circles around you. She is a happy girl who can be a little shy with people at first. As soon as she feels comfortable she will be your shadow. Mia came into rescue because an Amish Breeder discarded her. The Amish community is notorious for ... (Read More)puppy mills and keeping dogs in poor conditions. Mia lived in a cage in a barn and produced litter after litter of puppies for her owner to sell. Mia is one of the lucky ones, this breeder released her much younger than they normally do. We knew Mia needed a thyroid test because the Amish typically barely feed their dogs enough to survive. Mia is housetrained, up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and heartworm tested. If you would like to meet Mia, please start the adoption process by completing the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about Mia, please contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters within an hour of Cedar Rapids, IA only, please. Indoor homes only. Adoption donation $200. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Iowa
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
