Rescue Me ID: 17-11-09-00012Pancho (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Pancho is a spunky little guy that was very scared at a high kill shelter where he was scheduled to die. He was terrified and because of this, he was not very approachable. HE IS A LOVER--you just have to let him know you love him too and that he does not have to be afraid of you. He is happy and friendly--once he gets to know you are not a threat. Otherwise, he is timid but he warms up fast. His ideal home would be with adults and children over the age of 10--children that understand that he will be shy at first. He will be great in a home with a fenced yard as he knows how to use a doggy door very well. He is great in a kennel and not ... Rescue Me ID: 17-10-30-00200Sir Charles Barkley (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Meet Sir Charles Barkley! AKA Barkley, B's, Bubba. He will be 4 in January and is a fixed male. He is ok with dogs in most situations, but needs to be the only dog living in the home. He is good with adults, but not small children--I would guess over the age of 7 or 8 might be okay. He does have territorial issues with toys/bones, hence not living with another dog. Average-high energy, he has the beagle nose so will need a fenced yard or land, and/or walks so his nose/brain stays stimulated. He knows all basic commands. He loves his people, but he will let you know when he wants to be left alone. He could be an amazing dog in the ... (Read More)right family! He has a tendency to try and bolt out open doors, fence gates, and the like, so must be careful when coming and going. The bump on his head in the pictures has since been removed, it was a small benign tumor. He does have a charming scar from it. Please contact with any questions or a meet and greet! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Iowa
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
