Meet Mia the Puggle. Mia is a 5 year old Beagle and Pug mix female. Mia came to us from a breeder so she has had many litters of puppies. But now she is ready to be the one adopted and loved by a family of her own. Mia currently weighs a hefty 40 pounds. She needs to lose some weight and now that we know she has a low functioning thyroid and is on medication that should be easier. It is not an expensive medication but she will need it every day for life. Mia is a very playful dog so using that will help her weight loss as well. But being a Beagle Mia is food motivated. She needs a home that will help her by limiting her access to ... (Read More)food and getting her the exercise she needs to achieve a healthy weight. Being a breeder released dog she took a little time to warm up to new people, but it didn't take long. She happily goes to her foster parents and follows her foster mom everywhere. Mia does well with other dogs and even cats. She is your typical happy Beagle who gets along with everyone given a little time to know them. Mia is not used to being on a leash and will need work on that. She is starting to be interested in dog toys, but she hasn't started playing with people yet. She needs some coaxing and she will get there. Mia is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and heartworm tested. Mia is not fully housetrained, but is learning quickly. She paces when she needs to go out so if her people pay attention to her signals she will fully trained in no time. If you would like to meet Mia, please start the adoption process by completing our adoption application that can be found on our website at www.furfunrescue.org. For questions about Mia, please contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657. Adopters within an hour of Cedar Rapids, IA only, please. Indoor homes only. Adoption donation $200. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Iowa
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Iowa if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
