Aubrey is a very loyal and lovable dog. She has always been my shadow. She has problems with anxiety. I have been able to comfort her in all the times of her insecurities. The reason she is up for adoption is because I have lost my home and I can not keep her at the place I am staying. So, in other words she is 'homeless.' It is very important that she goes to a family with a yard, or is able to take her outside quite often. She has a small bladder and she does need to urinate on a regular basis. When I get ready for work she knows and heads straight to the cage without me saying a word. It breaks my heart to have to let Aubrey go. She has been very loyal and dedicated to me. Many folks ask about her right eye. She has a 'cherry eye.' I didn't have the money to get it fixed, and was told the chances were great that it would come back like that. It's nothing contagious, just takes away from her cuteness. She loves to be loved on. Me and her have slept nose to nose. Where I go, she goes! I am hoping there is someone out there that will be interested in taking Aubrey into their home. She makes a fun and loving companion. They will be so moved by her intelligence. Scout is a male, about 4 years old, and likely a Beagle - German shepherd cross. He is about 20 lbs. His behaviors follow his breed type - he likes to bark and tends to be protective of his family. He is currently an indoor at night/ outdoor in the day dog and wears a bark collar when in the yard. He is a little nervous in character but very sweet and loving. Harley was a chain dog that I found wandering around my neighborhood dragging part of the chain he had broken. He walked around dragging it until the collar almost embedded in the back of his neck and he had started walking bow legged to keep from tripping over it. It took me 2-3 weeks to finally catch him and he's been with me since Spring 2012. A local organization helped me get him vetted and we found out he was low heartworm positive. He has been on heartguard for about 5 months now and will be rechecked soon. Since he was a chain dog, he has some issues. He tries to bite if you touch him sometimes. If you just kind of let him ... He has no front teeth, likely from chewing on the chain that he probably spent most of his 6 years on, and his canines are jagged so they will need to be removed. We want to get his heart healthy before he undergoes anesthesia again. He can't be around cats and that's why we can't keep him. I don't know how he does with other dogs because we've kept him separate from our dogs. We also have not attempted checking him with children because of his tendency to bite adults. We have to keep him outside in a kennel a majority of the time and that isn't helping him. I would really like to find someone that can keep him inside and work with his behavioral issues. I'm in a wheelchair and my husband works full time so we can't work with him the way we would like. We have 8 other dogs and it's a full time job taking care of them. Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Kentucky if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
