Rescue Me ID: 14-08-27-00688Hunter (male)

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Neutered

Hunter is a retired hunting dog. He is a 14 inch Beagle from a good line. I inherited Hunter in June when My dad passed. He was one of 6 dogs that needed to have homes. I already have 3 dogs and I can't spend the time with Hunter that he needs. He is very timid from being kenneled with the Alpha male, loosing his owner and being moved. He is very loving and doesn't have a mean bone. He loves kids and being with the family. Sense June I have taught him to walk on a leash, and he's mostly house broken. I would love to find a home for Hunter where his family can spend more time with him than I can. I'm sure he can be a loving part of someone's ... (Read More)family. I don't want anything for him except a good loving home. He will go with his: inside kennel, outside dog house, food dishes, leashes, collars, and a bag of food. photo coming soon.... (Less)

Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered

Fostered for 1 year so far. Former Parent had brain tumor and could no longer care for him. Touch too big for our house and can't really let him outside due to the fact he tries to kill our chickens. Very affectionate animal and extremely obedient otherwise. Loves his evening walks and is not a puller. Loves stuffed animals with squeakers, although his goal is to pull out the stuffing and destroy the squeaker, so all toys have to be animal safe. Not destructive when left alone although once in awhile he does get in the garbage. If he was half the size and chicken safe we would be his forever home. This guy is on his 3rd home at least, his ... (Read More)last family rescued him for a shelter. He really deserves a family to love... (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Maine
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Maine if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
