We are looking for a new home for our dog, Meg. I think it took us having a dog to realize we are not a dog family. She is a beagle mix, 33lbs, approx 5-6 years old - her age was estimated at 2-3 when we adopted her in 2014. She is microchipped, spayed and up to date on all care/vaccinations. What's great about her: She is cozy, loving, goofy, loves to curl up and sleep. Very social and playful. She has beautiful silky ears and the adorable wrinkled brow of a puppy. She rarely barks - rarely if she sees something of interest outside. She is wonderful with other dogs - not aggressive at all. She is quite respectful of the cats in our house (who preceded her arrival). Outside, she'll try to chase cats and squirrels. She is fine being in the crate when we are gone for longer periods. With a treat, she goes in easily. She loves car rides in or out of the crate. We think she needs a home where she can get longer walks or freedom to go out on her own. Potential owners should be aware that she can be touchy around young children, especially boys under the age of 12 with whom she is not familiar. Rarely, she has done her business inside. She is attracted to rugs that might be a bit like grass. Definitely does not like thunderstorms (shakes but can be comforted) or being left in an unfamiliar place. (Less)

Looking for my new BFF! (aka a true leader of the pack) I have separation anxiety, so I hate being left alone. I whine, a lot, apparently, because ever since my owners had a baby, I haven't been the center of their attention anymore. I've been called 'part cat' because I like to cuddle up next to my people or the other dog I live with. If allowed on furniture, I would love to be your tv watching buddy. But I can be very active, too! Just introduce treats into the picture, and I'll impress you with my tricks! I learned all sorts of stuff in obedience school. My newest trick is dancing on my hind legs, so I'm open to learning new things. I'm very loyal, won't run away if let off leash. (But I'm microchipped just in case anyway.) I love walks, but I do pull because I'm so eager to take everything in. I've always lived with another dog, so especially when left home alone, it'd be very nice if I had another dog buddy with me. I don't do well with crates, I get clausterphobic. I don't mind a mini indoor dog run though. I'm told that I'm not good with small children, but that's because not only do they take precious attention away from me, but they also interfere too much with my personal space! I love to cuddle, but on my own terms. I think I'd do best in a household with one or two adults who want to shower me with attention, and who will be home most of the time, or who have another dog that can keep me company when they're not home. It would be very nice if my new owner could update my current owners with a couple of pictures after I'm settled in. They're very sad to see me go and want to be sure rehoming me is in my best interest. (Less)

Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Maryland if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
