Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations, Aggressive

Finn is an Australian shepherd/beagle mix and was born 9/28/08 (6 years old). He needs to go to a home with NO CHILDREN and NO OTHER PETS due to aggression issues. He knows basic commands, is housebroken, neutered, microchipped (lifelong membership & can be transferred), and current on his rabies shot. He is an excellent dog as a one-on-one pet, but is extremely protective of what he considers his territory. It is breaking my heart that I can no longer keep him because I love him so dearly. I am looking for someone that has experience with aggression and understands the strong protective/herding instinct of an Australian Shepherd. My vet has ... (Read More)suggested he may make a good working dog, but he has been a house pet since I adopted him (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-10-14-00789Little Miss Ann (female)

Beagle

Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive

This little girl came to my country home about 2 1/2 weeks ago. She was terribly neglected. Infected paws where her nails had grown deep into her pads. All nails were so long they were growing in rings. Here eyes were swollen nearly shut with drainage. She didn't appear to have been abused otherwise. I have nursed her back to health and she is infection free! It has been amazing to watch her walk & run without any pain. She is incredibly grateful and happy. Little Miss Ann enjoys the company of my 4 dogs and would love to be adopted by someone with another dog. She is very social! Thanks be to God for allowing me the opportunity to nurse ... (Read More)her, show her love, affection & care. For allowing me to see her grow stronger, healthier & happy everyday. What a miracle! She needs a loving, hands on home where she is part of the family! She has so much to offer! (Less)

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is Dandy, I am very upbeat and I love people. There is always a smile on my face, and my tail is sure to wag if I'm being pet. I'm the perfect size for any family due to my medium size. I love to play and run so I will need a fenced in yard, preferably a high fence because though I don't look it I can jump surprisingly high. Older children are best for me due to my playful nature, but if you're willing to play with me I will love you forever. Beagle Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Pepper Ann is a good dog. She is just getting on in her years a little bit. We have a small toddler and an infant. She has recently become very distressed with the amount of noise and activity within the house and she has growled and snapped at the kids a couple of times. Never at me or my wife. I believe this is a fear response from the sudden noises and movements of the kids. We love her but we do not want to endanger our child.

Beagle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adult Men Only
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive

Bella has been with us since she was 9 months old. She is now going to be 4 on Halloween. When we purchased her she was dirty and slightly underweight. She is now healthy with the exception of her third eyelid that is currently flipped. We had the other one removed which costs around $100-$150. There is also an option to flip the eyelid back with a 50% chance of it recurring. The vet told us it is not harmful but slightly uncomfortable if you don't take care of it. Bella is in need of a new home because we feel she is not suitable to be around our 2 year old son who is still learning how to interact correctly with animals. She shows ... (Read More)aggression mainly with food and is not gentle when taking it from your hand. We just no longer have the time to fix these problems. She is a great dog with the right person and proper training. She listens to my husband best so I feel she is a great fit for a guy that has time for her. (Less)

 Fearful/Anxious

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Graybill is a rescue dog we adopted when she was 2 or 3. She is probably around 10 or 11 years old now. She is a sweet dog, but has some separation anxiety, and is not good with young children (has growled and nipped at them on occasion). We are about to have our third child, live in a very small house, and are concerned about her quality of life as we have to keep her separated from our kids. She has done well with other small dogs (she is about 13-14 pounds), loves to be outside, and go for walks. Follows her nose. Occasional seizures- maybe twice a year. We have been unsuccessful so far in re-homing ... (Read More)her and our local humane society says because of her age and not being good with children, she will most likely be put down if we bring her to them. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-06-15-00277Happy - GRADUATE (male)

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Happy has been in his new foster home for a full week now, and his charming personality is shining through! He minds quite well and does not need to be given commands more than once to do what you want. Happy has done absolutely nothing naughty since he has been with us and is 100% house broken. Happy can entertain himself independently without getting into any trouble, but his favorite thing to do is to be by his foster brother's (Rott/Shep mix) shadow. They are so cute together. They walk or trot shoulder to shoulder as if they know exactly where they are going. It reminds me of two boys going on a hike along abandoned railroad tracks. ... (Read More)All they are missing is their little packs tied up at the end of sticks. They are off on an adventure! Happy is a beautiful bright white with all the traditional markings of his primary breed; the Beagle. He does not bark, but more bays. The great thing is, he does not do this to annoyance, and will stop as soon as you tell him to. What a good boy! He is watchful, as dogs should be and lets me know when something is 'up'. And he is never wrong. I appreciate the heads-up he gives me. Speaking of entertaining himself, he can usually be found right in the middle of the fenced yard, sunbathing. Just sleeping and soaking up the sun's warmth. It is quite cute and makes me feel good that he trusts me to 'have his back' too, like he has mine. Happy just is no problem to have around, including in the house. He has good manners and usually chooses his own bed to take naps on. He eats twice a day and does not seem preoccupied with food. That is good, so you yourself can eat in piece. Just tell him to go lay down and he leaves until invited back. I got him plenty of big bones to chew, chew, chew on. This has cleaned his teeth and breath right up! Feeding a good quality dog food, like 4Health from Tractor Supply is recommended. It is a great dog food at the best price. It is crunchy and helps to keep his teeth clean and breath smelling good. He eats so little that it is not expensive to feed him this. I chose senior lamb & rice for him because he had put on some weight at his last home. Between good food and friends to play with, he is getting down to his health play weight. Although Happy is 7 years old, you wouldn't know it for any negative reasons, but only the good reasons! He is low-key, not spastic (lol), gentle with his human interactions and sincerely thankful to have been chosen to be part of a family. The way he crashes out on his bed at night and quietly snores, speaks to his age, but it is sweet and fills your heart with the joy of having given this mature guy a place to spend his mid-life years. Happy is neutered and UTD on all his vaccines, HW, and FT. RPSM recommends children 6 years and older. Happy will require a fenced in yard, either physical or underground. If you are interested in adopting Happy, please go to www.rpsm.org to fill out an application. His adoption fee is $100. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Michigan
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
