Rescue Me ID: 14-04-13-00242Chief (male)

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

He is very spoiled. Lives in the house only. Sleeps with me. I'm 65 and he is very protective. He is rather shy with men and he hasn't been around any little children. He is not a hunter because he is scared of guns. He loves to bark and run. Only problem is my neighbors don't like barking dogs. He needs to be in the country and in a fenced in area. He doesn't listen if he gets loose. I can't get him to come back and I am in a wheelchair so I can't chase him. He would probably be happier with a single, older person.

My name is Benny and I'm a smart and very energetic 2 year old Labrador Retriever/Beagle Mix that just entered the prison training program in Coldwater, MI on April 4th where I will be learning all my basic commands and maybe some cute tricks. My lucky adopter will receive an 'operator's manual' so we can continue to enjoy and practice the great training I'm receiving. I like to play, eat, play, and an occasional nap before I go out to play again. I'll do great with kids 10 and over, and the more kids you have, the more fun we'll have together. Can't wait to meet you all, so submit your application today. I'm neutered and UTD on all my ... (Read More)vaccines, HW, & FT. I have a microchip in case I get lost and will require a fenced in yard, either physical or underground to keep me safe. RPSM recommends children 10 years and older. I will require a fenced in yard, either physical or underground. If you are interested in adopting me, please go to www.rpsm.org to fill out an application. My adoption fee is $175. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-03-18-00624Molly (female)

Beagle    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This is Molly. She was abandoned in the woods and found by a hunter. She came straight to this hunter and was affectionate. She stayed with him for 3 days while he attempted to find a home for her after first taking her to the vet to be checked for a microchip. She never went potty in his home, slept on his bed with him a night, did some light chewing, and was calm with his other 3 larger dogs and children. She was then re-homed to a family who had never had a beagle and she was caged for every minute that she was not outside. She became very timid and fearful of people after being in this home for 2 months. These owners then decided she ... (Read More)didn't fit with their family and so my husband and myself rescued her from these owners (whom we are related to). She was underweight, no one knew her age or her vaccination history and needed to see a vet. We had her checked out right away. She was vaccinated and found to be a non-spayed 1 yer old dog. We began showering her with love and teaching her that the cage is only for night or when her people are not home. She gets to run and play with our dog, our 2 cats and our 2 kids. She has come out of her timid shell quite a bit! She now goes towards people instead of cowering from them, she plays with toys, and she has learned her name and some commands. Unfortunately, we cannot keep Molly. Our dog is 11 years old and can be aggressive with other dogs. Molly has learned when our dog will not tolerate her. Molly, being a Beagle, also has that hunting instinct and deserves to have an owner who will let her run and utilize these instincts. ** Please, to aid us in finding Molly the best home possible, when you inquire about her (and before she meets with anyone) we would like to know a little about your family/life so we can know what her life will be like. She has had a very rough start to life and she deserved a wonderful, loving home.*** Also, we took Molly to meet with potential adopters and it was their opinion she was not purebred so we would like to share that information with whomever may be interested in her. Thank you!! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Michigan
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
