ADOPT ME! PLEASE SHARE! Frankie is my friend looking for a new home. He is a 5year old Beagle mix in perfect health, neutered, up to date on shots and house/crate trained. He is playful, good with 99% of the 100's of dogs he has met here (1% he attempts to control with mounting. I don't know about cats). He is well-built, beautiful coat and regularly groomed. He has a unique ridge of hair oh his head that we all love. I think the best home will be a family with no kids and family willing to set him up for success by not putting him in situations with strangers reaching for him, etc. He is going to miss his sister dog so a family with a dog ... Beagle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Sonny! He is a 3 year old beagle boy. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped and current on flea and heartworm prevention. He has a very goofy and playful personality He gets along with most other dogs with proper introductions. He is currently living in a foster home with 3 other beagles and 2 cats and is doing great! He can be stubborn when he doesn't want to do something (like being at the vet) and he will put up a good front. (He has to be muzzled when getting vaccines) big baby!. Because of this side of him we don't think he would be good around young children. He doesnt like to be held or chased. ... (Read More)Older children would be fine. He is quite a sweet boy. He is crate and housetrained as well. He is o.k. with the cats but this is a new experience for him as he was never around cats before. He is still VERY interested in them. So depending on the personality of the cat, this could be good or bad. He is too smart for his own good and has already learned from the cats how to get over the gates. I have no doubt that he could climb a 4 ft fence with ease. If you are interested in seeing more updates, pictures, and videos of Sonny while he is in rescue please 'LIKE' us on facebook. Rescue Me ID: 16-03-19-00273Selma (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Selma was rescued from a high kill shelter in San Antonio, TX in January 2016. She was so scared in the shelter, she was snapping at the staff. She was sure to be one of the first to be euthanized that day because of her fearful behavior. Selma is a beautiful, fun, playful and energetic little girl. We saw that within just a few days of being at our house. She is about 4 years old and mature beyond her years, but very young at heart and extremely intelligent. Selma knows 'sit' and willingly does so when she wants a treat! She also knows 'no' and listens very well when asked to redirect her behavior. She is also crate trained, house trained ... (Read More)and prefers to be loose in the house, although we recommend crating her when she is alone for long periods. Selma was listed at the shelter as a shepherd mix but, she is really the size of a beagle and weighs only about 25-30 pounds. Because Selma was likely abused before she was picked up as a stray, we recommend her new family have no small children and prior dog experience. Despite Selma's past, she has a very playful side and loves people who are fun and will play with her. Selma loves to run through the house, grunting, and playing with toys. Squeak toys are her favorite but, she also enjoys a relaxing chew on a Nylabone. She enjoys being near people and longs for human contact. She mostly just wants to know she isn't alone and is safe in her environment. %BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%BD%81S Selma is also crate trained and goes willingly into her crate at meal time and for treats. She is house trained, too. Selma is dog and cat friendly but, needs to be introduced properly due to her fear of new friends. Selma is also leash trained and knows her name, and comes running when called! Selma would LOVE a fenced yard since she is somewhat fearful and timid. A fenced yard would offer her security and help her gain her confidence. We would recommend not leaving her off leash for a while in the beginning and then, progressing to a long line attached to her collar when allowing her to roam free in her yard. Selma's only requirements include: prior dog experience and a fenced yard, being committed to giving her the best life, people willing to move slow and speak softly in order to help gain her confidence and trust, loving her forever, and being her best friend. Please email or call if you are interested in adopting Selma and forever making her a part of your family. We require an adoption application, references, home check and adoption contract. Her adoption fee is $250, and she is up to date on vaccinations, HW negative and taking preventative, dewormed, spayed, and microchipped. Each adoption is considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the dog and their requirements as well as the family and their circumstances. NO TEXT MESSAGES please!! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-02-27-00167Beau (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Beau is a wonderful, one year old, neutered Beagle/basset mix. He acts and looks primarily like a Beagle but is a little larger with bigger paws and ears. Beau is a dominant male dog and as such we believe he would be best as the only dog in the home. Beau is very good with people and loves to be with them. Beau would be a great agility dog or a dog for an active family. He would benefit from obedience training as he is still very much a puppy. If you are interested in Beau, please fill out an application available on our website www.bhrom.org

Beagle Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Duke came to us from a local shelter after his original owner had passed away and his extended family couldn't care for him. He's had a lot of loss in his recent past and we're looking for a caring and understanding person to be Dukes new forever home. He is considered a senior 9 years old but he doesn't necessarily act like it. He likes to go for walks and will occasionally get spunky with a toy or a ball. One on one he is an amazing dog and we feel he would be bet suited for maybe a retiree or a single person who wants a companion. He does currently live with other dogs and cats and has been around my nine year old son. Most of the time ... (Read More)he's fine but he doesn't like to share his attention so we thik he would do best as the only pet. He is neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. His adoption donation is $100 to the rescue, buthe does qualify for our senior to senior program which cuts his adoption donation in half for an individual over the age of 50. He does like to climb so he would need a privacy fence or someone diligent on walking with him. He is crate and house trained as well. PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Michigan
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Michigan if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
