This sweet girl is Payton. She was a stray and in desperate need of some help. When found, she was in labor. Sadly, only one of her puppies made it. She's been through a lot and you can see it in her eyes that she's unsure of who she can trust. A good home with someone who loves her is all she needs. Are you the one who will save her?

Copper is super sweet! We adopted him when he was about 2 from a neglected home. Unfortunately, we can no longer give him the time & attention he so desperately needs. We have 3 children, one who we found out to be highly allergic, & our schedules are such that it is difficult to care for a pet. We have had Copper for 5 years & this truly breaks our hearts, but he needs a home where he can run outside. Our neighbor is not a dog lover, & gets very upset when Copper barks, which is not fair to Copper. She also has a pond with fish & that has definitely become a problem.. Beagles love to be outside, & Copper is very luvey too. He is due ... (Read More)for shots, the rest of his records are at the Washington Animal Hospital. He does have slight allergies according to Dr. Smith, so he chews his front paw sometimes & has a little hot spot on his back that is going away. (Less)

Animal ID: 603Buster (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Buster. I have an incredible story of survival. I was found crawling, yes, crawling down the road. I have a herniated disc so I can no longer stand or walk for long periods of time. I do get up but with difficulty. So, in my greatest hour of need someone decided I should be dumped and left to fend for myself. I know, it should make me bitter but you know us dogs; we are resilient and it doesn't take much to make us happy. So, I'm very happy to have been rescued by M'Shoogy's. I'm leaving the past behind me and living for the day when someone with a really big heart will give me a loving home. Is your heart big enough to take me in? ... (Read More)Buster is currently on prednisone. Those adopting Buster can get his medication from Angel's Vet at our cost. (Less)

Hi, my name is Bennie. I ended up at M'Shoogys after getting hit by a car. Unfortunately, it's not an unusual story around here. There is something a little unusual about me; I had to have my tail amputated because of the accident. You might think it's a little weird but really, you wouldn't know it was missing if I hadn't mentioned it. I'll tell you what you will notice, my sparkling personality! I might not have a tail but I'm all dog alight. I'm friendly, happy go-lucky, and it's all good! You don't have to take my word for it; come down to the shelter and see for yourself. I think you'll find I'm irresistible.

Rescue Me ID: 14-07-19-00005Daisy (female)

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Daisy is about 8 years old. She is a small dog, 11' tall at the shoulder and weighs 22#. She is great with all people, young and old. I got her as a stray, but I am sure she was abused - she has still not lost her baggage and cowers when she thinks she might be in trouble or if you raise your voice at her. Otherwise she is sweet sweet sweet. Daisy is submissive to people, but slightly alpha to other dogs. She has lived with other dogs and did well with all except another alpha female. Housebroken unless she is left alone for a long time. She does not ask to go out, but will sit by the back door. Since she doesn't ask to gou out, it is ... (Read More)best to let her out on a schedule. Currently it is a couple times before I go to work, again between 12 and 2, (my neighbor lets her out), then a couple times after 6pm after work. If the mid-day out is not possible, she can be in a crate. Daisy is crate trained, and if you decide to use a crate, it will help immensely if the crate is in front of a window so she can look out. I put rubber grippy stuff (like what you put in kitchen cabinets for glassware) on an old end table and put the crate on that in front of the window. The grippy stuff kept the crate from sliding around on the table. Escape artist: can climb a chain link fence - if you top it with a piece of hardware cloth bent in so when she looks up it appears to be a roof, she won't try. I have an extra roll of this to give to her new parents. Not a digger, unless she finds a low point under a fence with loose dirt. Then she will dig out. This only happened once. Good on a leash but does like to sniff a lot. Good in the car. One or two 20 minute walks a day is fine - no major exercise needed. Not a bad barker like some beagles. She will bark when she sees another dog or rabbit, will be quiet when verbally corrected. (for the most part.) Trash cans and food pantries must be secure. She is definitely a trash surfer. If you don't pick up the pool in the yard, Daisy will sometimes eat it. (I know, gross!) She does not eat poop on walks, just the stuff in the back yard. Likes laser pens - will chase the red light around. Likes toys but tears them apart. :( Daisy has a lot of good years left, and is very healthy. She is a low maintenance and quiet beagle, and would do well with almost any kind of family...a senior citizen or a family with kids. She absolutely adores all people! (Less)

Beagle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

Arrived about 2 months ago, close to death. With the help of our vet, we have nursed them back to health, including heartworm treatment for Daisy (the one on the right). Both are now heartworm negative, wormed, up to date on vaccinations and back at full weight. Likely mother & daughter so need to go together. Daisy is about 5 and Ellie is about 2-1/2. So sweet and friendly. Love to take walks and ride well in the car. Ellie does need to be spayed. Likely not hunters but would make great lap puppies!

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Missouri
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Missouri if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
