Rescue Me ID: 14-04-16-00191Lucy (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lucy is sweet country girl in search of a family who wants an indoor canine kid with lots of love to give! Lucy is fully vetted, heartworm negative, current on vaccines and spayed. She is four years old. She has been raised with young children and other dogs. She is an indoor dog who loves to be with her human pack but also enjoys a good romp outdoors as well! She has had limited exposure to cats and apparently has a grudge with Foghorn Leghorn because she will chase chickens. Lucy's adoption fee will include a microchip since both beagles and labs have a tendency to follow their nose and can wander from home. A fenced-in yard is ... (Read More)preferred. Lucy is being fostered in a private residence. We are an all-volunteer organization, so please give us 24-48 hours to reply. For an application for Lucy, please e-mail wecaan2014@gmail.com (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-03-26-00211Rose (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Rose is named after Rose O'Neill, a Nebraskan who founded the Kewpie doll. Her name seemed fitting given her sweet face! Halfy, is Leela's daughter and is an 'Abita' (a bit of this and a bit of that) but based on her markings, we went with 'Pointer mix.' True to her name, she has 3 sweet girls and 3 precious boys (Cody, Brando, Cabela, Bess, Grace and Rose). Their paternal history is unknown, but we suspect an English Pointer that roams the neighborhood. These canine kids are almost 8 weeks old and will be available for adoption the week of 04/21/14. Vetting at 8 weeks will include deworming, first DHHP vaccine and bordetella ... (Read More)vaccines. They will require a rabies vaccine and spay/neuter at 12 weeks. The adoption fee is $150 and we can also microchip your new canine kid at our cost. We can arrange to spay/neuter a puppy; the adoption fee is $200 to cover the additional vetting. We know this is a long-term commitment and many people prefer to utilize their own vet for spay/neuter at 12 weeks of age. We are willing to be flexible with you. Please understand we volunteer long hours to reduce pet overpopulation, therefore, we would ask that you pre-pay for your new fur kid's surgery prior to adoption. Although we don't know their daddy, these puppies most likely have characteristics of 'sporting group breed' in them, which means they follow their noses! Therefore, we prefer homes with a fenced-in yard but will consider exceptions with satisfactory justification of how the family will appropriately and safely exercise these babies. A written application and home visit are required. Questions to ask yourself: -Do I have the time and motivation to house train a puppy? -Do I have the time to provide the play, exercise and attention a puppy needs? -Am I okay with the 'X factors' meaning we cannot predict the size or weight of these puppies when grown? These little ones personify cute and would be a wonderful addition to any home. They are well-socialized and have been exposed to other dogs, outdoor cats, and children over 8 years of age. These puppies are just too young to co-habitate with young children. Our adoption fees in this case are going towards vet care for 13 puppies, vetting both mother dogs, subsidizing the spay of another female dog in the home, and fixing NINE cats!! We named this group of fur kids for famous Nebraskans; from the silver screen to social reform, our great state has representation in many halls of fame! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-03-26-00134Finn (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Finn is named after the Hunger Games character, a wildly popular, handsome guy. Leela (Lewis, Clark, Katniss, Finn, Wilber, Brock, and Husker's) mom, is a beagle mix. The paternal history of her puppies is unknown, but there is a suspicion Daddy is a pointer in the neighborhood. We named her litter after places in southeastern NE (their region of residence), current cult pop faves, historical figures who impacted our state history, and last by not least, we had to keep the UNL fans happy, so we do have one puppy named Husker. This adorable crowd of six males and one female is approximately 8 weeks old and will be available for adoption ... (Read More)the week of 4/14/14. Vetting at 8 weeks will include deworming, first DHHP vaccine and bordetella. We will also microchip the puppies at cost. The adoption fee is $150 plus the microchip. The puppies will require a rabies vaccine and second DHHP at 12 weeks. The rescue group can arrange to spay/neuter your puppy prior to adoption; we are happy to do so and the adoption fee is the puppy is fixed prior to adoption is $200.00. Please understand we volunteer long hours to prevent and reduce pet overpopulation. We realize you are making a long term commitment to this fur kid and that some of you may want to have the spay/neuter completed at your own vet when the puppy is 12 weeks at the time of the vaccines. We are willing to accommodate this request, we only ask that you pre-pay for the surgery at your vet. As cute as these babies are, we don't need 13 more of them!!! Although we don't know their daddy, these puppies have hound in them, which means they follow their noses! Therefore, we prefer homes with a fenced-in yard but will consider exceptions with satisfactory justification of how the family will appropriately and safely exercise these babies. These puppies are too young for small children. They live in a household with LOTS of other dogs, so they are well-socialized. Their house has 8 outdoor cats and two indoor cats. They also are exposed to children approximately 8 years and up. A written application and home visit are required. Questions to ask yourself: -Do I have the time and motivation to house train a puppy? -Do I have the time to provide the play, exercise and attention a puppy needs? -Am I okay with the & 'X' factors meaning we cannot predict the size or weight of these puppies when grown? PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Nebraska
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Nebraska if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
