Beagle Mix    Age: Puppy

Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Jackson is one and a half years old worth tons of energy. He's been with me since 8 weeks old. I work full time as an RN and just recently enrolled back in school. He is home alone for long hours by himself. We go to the park everyday after work but I don't feel it's enough for him. He needs a yard to run free in and I want him to have the life he deserves running and playing, not couped up in my apartment. He's very smart and with proper training can learn anything you would be willing to teach. He's very unsure and uneasy around children so a household with out them would suit him best.

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi! My name is Doggie! I want to tell you my story, but promise you wont feel sad okay?! Well I was born in the Middle East in a country called Oman. When I was a puppy I thought it was normal to always be hungry and be hit with rocks and sticks. One day, a policeman came and shot my Mommy and brothers and sisters. (This is law in Oman - Dogs are shot on the spot) I ran away and hid under a tree. I was crying all night but I knew to be quiet when the police came around to find me. I was so scared. The next day I was really hungry so I came out and saw some kids playing. Normally I stayed away because they don't like us. But I was really ... (Read More)hungry so I sat next to them. All of a sudden the boys picked me up and tied me to the tree I was hiding under. They started throwing rocks at me and I tried my hardest to get away but I couldn't. I laid down because I knew I would die and get to see my mommy and brothers and sisters. All of a sudden a scary guy with a bald head and tattoos ran over and pushed the kids away. He picked me up and whispered 'It's going to be okay, doggie' I thumped my tail a little and he scratched my ears. There was a lot of blood on his shirt and I was worried he would be angry, but he held me so close and I felt safe for the first time in my life. The scary American took me to his home where there were 5 other dogs that were just like me! Some of them had worse stories than me, but we all get along for the most part :) The scary guy finds home for the Animals he rescues and he said I am going to America. I don't really know what that means, but he said that no one throws rocks at you there and that people even come over and scratch your ears sometimes! I hope I get to go soon because it sounds like fun :) ----Doggie! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-25-00559Banksy (male)

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected, Aggressive

Banksy was found digging out of trash in the streets of Brooklyn with a ratty collar and unregistered microchip just before Hurricane Sandy. After several weeks of searching his owners were never found. I am a dog lover so I tried to keep him under my care for a little over a year because I feel in love with him. However, I am a young professional just starting out in my career and after landing my dream job 6 months ago, I find myself working 10+ hour days. My salary is barely enough to support myself living in NYC so I cannot afford the high cost of a dogwalker and I do not have a backyard. As you can imagine, Banksy was not happy ... (Read More)being left alone all day and developed some mild separation anxiety. I have been tirelessly trying to find him a new home for the past 3 months without much luck. I finally found him a home upstate but after a few days days the family said they could no longer keep him. He showed aggression by biting their other dog and cat, and also became possessive over his bones, toys, and blanket. This was a big surprise to me as I had only known him to be sweet, loving, and just thrived on human companionship (however I had not experienced him around other animals). They agreed he was a great dog and also obedient and a fast learner, but is just not a dog that should be around other animals. I am now in a living situation where I cannot have animals as my roommate is highly allergic and I just signed a lease to live there. This family can no longer keep him so I am in DESPERATE NEED OF HELP. Banksy is honestly such a sweetheart and would be a great companion as an only pet. He loves being outside so a big backyard would be a huge plus. He does have beagle instincts to follow his nose so he would need diligent training if the backyard is not enclosed (the family did not have an enclosed backyard but said after a few days he was already learning to get the hang things, but still needed more training). Please help foster or adopt Banksy! I do not want to have to resort to taking him to a shelter because I am worried that if he shows any sign of aggression to other animals he will be euthanized. I care deeply for him and would be heartbroken if that happened. I know he will thrive in the right conditions and am hoping to find someone to help ASAP! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-07-00342shyann (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations, Abused/Neglected, Fearful/Anxious

Shyann is a 12 year old Beagle Shepard mix. I adopted from North Shore Animal League back in 2004. They informed me that she was approximately 3 years old at that time. She was severely abused by her original owner. I can't stress how sweet and loyal Shyann is. She does not get along with other dogs but loves people and is good with children. She lives with a 2 year old now. She has a sensitive stomach and has been fine since I regularly feed her Science Diet food. She also has a severe allergy to the rabbis vaccine. She needs benadryl when the shot is administered. Shyann loves going for walks and loves to cuddle. She is the sweetest, most ... (Read More)lovable and loyal dog. As unbelievable as this sounds, she doesn't bark. She is a very quiet dog. %A0Since I took her home I haven't had the heart to put her back in a cage so I always let her walk free in the house when I'm not home. If anything I have locked her in my kitchen when gone for long hours. I now walk her on a leash. When we lived on a dead end I used to be able to walk her without a leash. She listens very well when I call her. Honestly I have spoiled her since I took her home. She sleeps in bed with me every night. She hogs the bed and steals my blankets. During the day she cuddles with me on the couch. I have attached pictures. Unfortunately I'm facing some really rough financial Times and I'm now forced to move. I'm unable to take shyann to where I am moving. She deserves a good home. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in New York
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
