Beagle Rescue Information: Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.

Beagle Trivia: The world's most famous Beagle is Snoopy. Sadly, Beagles are often used for medical experiments.

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-15-00071June (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This adorable little thing is June! June is a 1-year-old 37 lb girl who is just overflowing with love to offer a new family! We are not sure of her breed- we call her a Great American Shelter dog, perhaps a Beagle Cattle dog mix. June is spunky and loving and would love to grow up with a home who can provide for her and love as much as she does! June is learning how to play nicely with other dogs here at the shelter and is working on a few commands. She will be ready after recovery from her spay on 2/16. Available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter, 1420 Brookside Blvd. 1.5 miles off I-5. in Merlin. Oregon. hours: Monday -Friday ... (Read More)10-4:30pm Saturday 10-4pm. http://www.co.josephine.or.us/SectionIndex.asp?SectionID=106 copy into your url follow instructions ... click on PET ADOPTIONS and scroll to adoption application. PLEASE READ ENTIRE NOTATIONS BELOW. The most common question is 'Good with Cats?' If we know has lived with cats or farm animals will be stated above in biography. Otherwise- we don't know. If you inquire by email- please tell us about you, your family, your yard, other animals, children, and your expectations of your new pet and what your new pet can expect from you. When you do so, we can better address your inquiry. Shelter number 541 474-5458 for status of availability as some may have been adopted since this post, and about any pending spay/neuter surgery if noted as sometimes spay/neuter appointment may be sooner if a cancellation is available. Dogs noted as a Great American Shelter Dog are noted as such because we are not sure of the breed and can only give out best guess. See more at: www.savethewhiskers.org Alternate Contact Raleigh@savethewhiskers.org or text 541 660 6578 name of dog. It is always nice if you send an inquiry about a specific adoptable guest via email to tell us about you, your family and other pets, your yard, and most importantly, your expectations of your new family member so we can answer your questions appropriately as best as possible. Please, if you email an inquiry, please understand that these animals are in the shelter for a variety of reasons: Their lives are upside down maybe because owner died, they got lost, were abandoned, owner lost home or had a life event that left their pet in need of a new home. We don't always know how they will get along with all dogs, all children. Some won't be a perfect family member right away! They will need love, patience, a strong owner who will let them know what is expected of them and what they can expect from their new family. It may take an afternoon or it may take a week or so! But they need homes and families who will bring them back to knowing what family is! Puppies: Please understand they are puppies; not potty trained; not good or bad with kids, dogs, cats. They are pliable puppies ready for you to imprint good manners, social skills, and training. You are encouraged to follow up with training after they are finished with shot series and or at the direction of your veterinarian. A happy healthy well socialized puppy is a happy family! You may be asked to make a refundable deposit for spay/neutering. Inquire at the Shelter. General Adoption Fees for Dog: Adult dogs and puppies- $125, Senior dogs 7 and over $50. Veterans are half price / $62.50 with presentation of government issued VA ID. For Josephine County fee includes first year licensing. Please visit the shelter or if need special arrangements for meet and greet please email me. If you have a dog- encourage you to bring also. Staff may be unable to answer calls right away, so you may contact me via email if you cannot get to shelter right away! You are encouraged to make your best effort to go during normal business hours. Note: Often times we are asked 'what about cats'?' Please be advised that we cannot guarantee a dog's behavior with a cat; sometimes the dog is fine with a cat- but cat not so happy about his canine intruder! If we know emphatically that a dog could take issue with a cat, livestock or chickens- will be stated in body of biography! Rescue Me ID: 17-02-05-00366Copper (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

We are very sad to need to find our good old dog Copper a new home. We are moving long distance and feel it would not be good for his health to have him endure quarantine and vaccinations required. He is great with all animals and is used to being around a lot of children as we have a childcare business. Copper is old but he loves to walk and go on hikes. He is very intelligent and can find ways to escape so its important to watch for any holes he could get out and keep doors shut. He also loves food and will grab it if he can so we do have him in another room if food is within his reach.

Maggie is a sweetheart, very relaxed not a barker, smart, she lives in a home with cat and bird but would rather be the only pet so she can have all the attention. please no small children, older child would be great or adult only. Reason I'm giving her up is because we are gone a lot and she can't always go. She needs someone that can give her the attention she needs. The important thing is she goes to the right home.
