Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Copper is a 7 year old neutered male beagle/pug and he weighs 22 pounds. Copper would like a calm family but also one that wants to take him out to explore. Copper gets along with most dogs but can be a bit dominant so meet and greet encouraged. We aren't sure about cats. Copper is going to need a home without small children or with children that are over 12 or so, as the little ones make him nervous. He is a squishy and happy little boy. Adopter should be aware that the Beagle breed does let his nose lead the way and should have a secure yard. Microchipped. Available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter, 1420 Brookside Blvd. 1.5 ... (Read More)miles off I-5. in Merlin. Oregon. hours: Tues-Fri 10-4pm Saturday 10-3pm. Please visit the shelter or if need special arrangements for meet and greet please email me. If you have a dog- encourage you to bring also. Staff may be unable to answer calls right away, so you may contact me via email if you cannot get to shelter right away! You are encouraged to make your best effort to go during normal business hours. Note: Often times we are asked 'what about cats'?' Please be advised that we cannot guarantee a dog's behavior with a cat; sometimes the dog is fine with a cat- but cat not so happy about his canine intruder! If we know emphatically that a dog could take issue with a cat, livestock or chickens- will be stated in body of biography! The editor is a member of Shelter Friends Josephine County an all volunteer not for profit Charitable organization supporting the animals of the Josephine County Animal Shelter. PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Oregon
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Oregon if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
