Rescue Me ID: 15-04-25-00447Cooper (male)
Cooper is a great dog, but now that my family has two little kids we don't have the time to take him on walks. He is very well trained, but has been known to dig under the fence to escape and get some energy out. This is a new problem for us, but we feel that it is a result of him not getting enough exercise.

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-24-00657Mandy (female)
Mandy is a five year old spayed female beagle/mastiff mix and she weighs 85 pounds. Mandy would like a family that likes some outside time but she really likes to just relax at her families feet as well. Mandy gets along wit some dogs but we aren't sure about cats. She walks well on a leash and appears to be housebroken. Available at the Josephine County Animal Shelter, 1420 Brookside Blvd. 1.5 miles off I-5. in Merlin. Oregon. hours: Tues-Fri 10-4pm Saturday 10-3pm. Please visit the shelter or if need special arrangements for meet and greet please email me. If you have a dog- encourage you to bring also. Staff may be unable to answer calls right away, so you may contact me via email if you cannot get to shelter right away! You are encouraged to make your best effort to go during normal business hours. Note: Often times we are asked 'what about cats'?' Please be advised that we cannot guarantee a dog's behavior with a cat; sometimes the dog is fine with a cat- but cat not so happy about his canine intruder! If we know emphatically that a dog could take issue with a cat, livestock or chickens- will be stated in body of biography! |Rescue Me ID: 15-04-09-00263Danny (male)|
Danny was rescued from high kill California shelter. He is super smart, healthy and athletic. He loves people especially women and somewhat shy around men. He would be great with athletic home since he loves to be outside run and take walks. Potty trained and car trained. He does ok with other dogs if introduced slowly. He is not dominant or aggressive.

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-16-00651Roxy (female)
Roxy is an adult female dog about 6 years old. We got her from the kiddos after their mom didn't want her. We've had her for several years and she is getting more aggressive. We have tried petco dog training and other methods (videos and choke collars) but her temperament is very unsteady. She needs a large fenced yard and no other pets or kids.

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-14-00263Rio (female)
Rio is 3 yrs old and 35 lbs. She is a sweet girl that loves to be with her people. She is crate trained but prefers not to go in. She is obedient and likes to play with other dogs. Rio needs an active family that will give her regular walks and is home most of the time because she has suffered from separation anxiety.

Rescue Me ID: 15-01-14-00216Laika (female)
Laika is a sweet dog. She likes to nap and eat treats. When she's not napping she follows her family around the house. She likes to check on us and plop herself down next to us. She has a bump on her left front paw. We're not sure what it is but she doesn't have problems with it. She likes short walks but takes stairs slower.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Oregon
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Oregon if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
