TGFF!!!Thank God for Fosters!! Read on for good news Rosco (formerly known as Tebow) is a great dog! He is friendly & loving. He gets along great with other dogs & doesn't care if there are cats around, he walks right past them. He knows most basic commands and is crate trained. We are working on walking on a leash and being more trusting of males, since he was terribly abused. He is neutered & UTD on shots. If you are considering adopting a dog, Rosco would be a great choice!'

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Sweet Linni. We just took Linni in to our rescue.. please excuse the photos. They are her shelter photos and we look forward to getting you more once we settle her into our foster care. She is 17 LB, approximately 3 years old and is now up to date on shots. We believe she is a Puggle. She will be spayed shortly and unfortunately is heartworm positive. We will be putting her through heartworm treatment shortly as well so she has a little longer wait than normal for adoption. She is very cuddly - was very scared at the shelter but who wouldn't be! We know that she gets along with humans and other dogs, though at shelter eval she was ... (Read More)food guarding and she meant it with other dogs! It could have been the environment or she could be food dominant with other dogs. If this is the case and you have other dogs, you could simply crate her for meals to avoid incident. If you are interested in learning more about her or submitting an application, please email us at thegoldenpittierescue@comcast.net - Her adoptability date is set for September 6th to allow us time to get to know her better and also allow her recovery time from heartworm treatment. We have to move due to my wife's health issues, and no longer have the capacity to care for Peyton and provide him the love and attention he deserves. Beagle    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Leo, the last of our 'When You Wish Upon a Star' Lab to Leash beagles released to us, has entered foster care. He is a 1.5 yo beagle with a lot of energy who is always looking for the next toy to play with! Leo would do well with an active family that has a great sense of humor since he is always doing something to make everyone laugh! Leo is working on his housetraining, and CANNOT be crated. He will injure himself if he is crated, so an adopter must be willing to work on housetraining with other training tools. Leo is child-friendly, cat-friendly and dog-friendly, and MUST have another dog in his forever home. When Leo first came to us, he ... (Read More)destroyed numerous crates and showed signs of severe separation anxiety. So long as he has the right combination of things - a Thundershirt (he will be adopted out with his), an Adaptil collar (he will be adopted out with one), some classical music on when left for the day, and the company of another uncrated dog, Leo will curl up on the couch and just go to sleep! (We have the video evidence to prove it!) It may sound like a lot, but it really isn't - especially when you see what a difference it makes for him! He is silly, playful, affectionate, and a lot of fun. If you can give him the set up he needs, he could make a great addition to your family! Beagle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Zoey is a 25lb female beagle that as far as we know, is pure, but we do not have papers. She is great with older dogs, submissive, and is good with kids over the age of 3. We have a young toddler, and zoey likes to jump when she is carrying food. She is wonderful with our 7 year old. Very food driven. She is housebroken, but needs to be taken out as soon as she is at the door, or she will forget and walk away! Sleeps at the foot of out bed, and will stay in a crate when you are not home. Is microchipped, has all shots including updated boarding shots. Is a great dog, but we are afraid she is going to jump on my young one when she has good.

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lyra...(pronounced LIE-rah)...is one of our When you wish upon a star... Lab to Leash retirees! This tiny (15 lb) 1 year old female is about as adorable as they come. She snuggles into you and would love to be held all day. She is like a little ragdoll! Lyra is cratetrained, as is working on her housetraining. She loves everyone she meets, including the cat! Dogs, however, well, she is generally OK with other dogs, but does get overstimulated at times and we would recommend she be an only dog. She deserves and would love to be the only dog in the house so she can get all the attention possible!! We have been working with Lyra since ... (Read More)mid-January to clear up some GI issues. After many tests and medications, she has been diagnosed with SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth) and we are moving forward with treatment. She is on an antibiotic, B12 injections, probiotics and a fiber pill, and while she is eating boiled chicken and potatoes right now, we are going to try to transition her to a prescription food specifically for this condition. Lyra does NOT have EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency) which is often the cause of SIBO. Right now, we do not know the cause. It can be idiopathic in many dogs which just means that the cause is never known. We may be able to treat her for this condition and it will resolve, and she will be fine. There is the possibility, however, that this could be a lifelong condition for her. At this time, we just do not know. We are taking one day at a time and treating her in collaboration with our veterinarians. Socially and behaviorally, Lyra is about as typical as any 1 year old beagle, although she is actually probably a bit calmer than most! She will find shoes and other fun things to chew on if you are not paying attention! Her adopter will need to monitor and work the SIBO, which again, could be lifelong, but may not be. We will know more as the weeks progress, but we sure hope this does not hold back an interested adopter. This is one special girl who deserves to start her new life with her forever family!     Gilbert has arrived! He was retired from a veterinary program where he helped train our newest technicians, veterinarians, and other animal lovers. Now he is looking for the retirement he deserves as a loved and spoiled housepet! :) Gilbert here, otherwise known as Gilly, Gibby or Gillyweed (for all you Harry Potter fans), and I'm coming to you LIVE to ask for a happy home! I'm a comedic and charismatic little guy who is full to the brim with personality! I have this soft, soulful expression that really melts hearts, and my sweet nature wins me lots of friends. In fact, I tend to get anxious when I'm alone or when I experience a scary ... (Read More)change in my environment. I am very grateful when people take the time to just sit with me and reassure me that it's ok to relax - these moments are my favorites because I think that's when people see the true loving spirit that I have within me. I hope that I can find a family that can spend lots of time with me and has another smaller, confident dog (and a fenced in yard) that could help me learn the ropes of living in a home. (It is OK if you have cats, too - so long as you at least have another young dog for me to play with!) I know that I can learn fast when I feel included and loved - I am very bright and pretty bold at heart! I am great at figuring out treat-dispensing toys and I'm a whiz at clicker training - you should see how beautifully I can walk on leash when I am getting rewarded and praised frequently! I am energetic and love to zoom around the play yard. I am cratetrained (although I do not love my crate), and I am still working on housetraining, but doing very well! I just know that there are so many happy experiences waiting for me out in the world, and I curl up in my bed every night dreaming of the family that will show them all to me. She is afraid of storms. Ruby needs a home to call her own. If you are interested in Ruby please email us at angelbeagleandhoundrescue@yahoo.com. Animal ID: BRL-0264Benny (male)

Beagle    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Benny is a handsome, young, active, and affectionate beagle boy. He is so typical that he has some common beagle puppy traits...being mouthy when he plays, chewing on the occasional inappropriate items, etc. Benny loves to play and he loves to snuggle. :) He is house- and crate-trained and will willingly spend quiet time in his crate, even when his human family is home. In addition to playing, Benny enjoys his snuggle time and will usually just melt for a belly- and or ear-rub, although if he is feeling playful he will try to turn it into a game. He will also bring a rope or other toy to initiate a game of tug when he is feeling playful, ... (Read More)too. To date Benny has had little interest in the resident cats, and he has gotten along well with dogs of all ages and sizes. He would do well as an only dog as well provided his adopters insure that he gets enough exercise! The biggest difference between Benny and a typical beagle (if there is such a thing) is that he MUST sleep crated. Benny has a sleep-disorder called RBD (REM-Sleep Behavior Disorder) that causes him to have episodes where he snaps, growls and lunges and anybody (or any dog) in the vicinity may be in his way at this time and end up being bitten. Benny is NOT AWAKE during these episodes (despite what it looks like) and THIS IS NOT A BEHAVIORAL OR TRAINING PROBLEM!! He is not awake and does not have conscious control during these episodes - he is truly asleep. If awoken during an incident, Benny will simply look around, curl back up and go right back to sleep. In his foster home he usually has one or two episodes a night, although he has had more some nights, usually following excessive stimulation. This is quite manageable in a vigilant household. You just need to make sure that Benny sleeps in a crate! :) To learn more about Benny's sleep disorder, please visit the webpage of another dog with this disorder http://www.withoutavoice.net/Sam.html To review our adoption process and submit an application, please visit: beaglerescueleague.org/adoption (Less)

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)

I am such a handsome beagle....everybody thinks so...muscular, active, and ready to snuggle on the couch whenever you are! I am 8 years old and am a LTL (Lab to Leash) retiree. I get a little nervous and anxious sometimes, so would really do best in a calmer home. I prefer hanging out with women, but if you are the right, patient man, I'll love you, too! I am handsome enough to be a little conceited, but confidence is one thing I need a little work with! I would really love to live with beagle experienced adopters who have a fenced in yard and would be patient with me as I adjust to a new home. It will need to be a fairly local family that ... (Read More)will be able to accommodate several meetings with me prior to adoption. This is very important because I have been with my foster family for a very long time and will need to meet with my new family several times before going home with them. I am cratetrained and mostly housetrained, and while I love to play with other dogs, I would be happiest as an only dog in a home - but maybe with some playdates with other dogs! I am OK with cats. I might chase them every once in a while, but in general., I think they're OK. Young kids are a little too active for me, and make me nervous, so I would do best in a home with all adults. I can sometimes be vocal, so an apartment or condo would NOT work for me. I have been looking for a home for a while now, and would really like to finally find my forever home! Could it be with you? Rescue Me ID: 12-06-26-00188Bab (male)

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bab is looking for a very special home. At seven years old he had lived within a laboratory research facility until he was rescued by BRL. His foster mom reports that Bab has made tremendous strides since his release date. Bab is house trained to a schedule and has learned to use a doggie door as well. He is comfortable sleeping in his crate at night (or just for short cat naps!). He gets along very well with the 3 other dogs in his foster home but could adjust nicely as an only dog. Bab will need to find a very patient owner who understands that he is a reactive dog - lots of things are a sensory overload for him (sudden movement, loud ... (Read More)noises, strangers). Because of that we are recommending no small children. He has not lived with cats so to be extra safe a cat free home is probably best. Bab is a smaller sized beagle with a gentle personality. With proper handling and a good understanding of how to live happily with a fearful dog, we're confident that Bab's progress will continue until he finds a home of his own. PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Pennsylvania
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
