Contact AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com for more information! Mama is in need of a foster or forever home. Can you help? This is Mama. She was adopted from Almost Home 3 years ago, but her owners schedules have changed and they are now away for long hours. Mama is now with a relative but her schedule is not much better and the family wants Mama to have the attention she deserves. Here's her info: Mama is about 8-10 years old and on the smaller side, about 40 pounds. She was rescued from North Carolina, we adopted her in May 2015. She was severely abused (bred and caged) and the abuse that she suffered has not only left her timid, but ... (Read More)also left her without many of her teeth and with poor vision. She took about 6 months to trust me and never really got comfortable with my husband. She is currently living with my sister and her dog and has been doing very well and learning a lot from having a companion dog. Since living with another dog, she has learned to sit (her first command!) and barks while playing which was a sound we never heard from her before. My sister works long hours though and isn't home as much as Mama needs her to be. Mama is a very well behaved and incredibly loving dog and likes to sleep on the couch or on her pillows. She'll follow you around the house and is always close by if she's not sleeping. If you're sitting she'll come over and put her head in your lap so she can get some scratches and will always give you her big beautiful 'pitty' smile! She isn't afraid of the car anymore and loves going on trips, even to the vet because she loves getting all the attention now! She likes going for walks and doesn't pull on her leash but she will wander off if she sees an opportunity or is left unattended, so she has to stay on some sort of lead if she's not in a fenced yard. She would do best in a home where someone is home most of the time so someone retired, disabled or works part time or from home. A home with another dog would be nice so she can continue to grow and learn what being a dog is really all about. She doesn't mind cats or small children. Local adoptions preferred - Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only. http://almosthomedogrescue.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=12805480 (Less)

Hi! My name is Phlox but my Foster family calls me Pat. At the shelter I didn't have a name I was just a number so I was excited to get a name. I am about 2 years old. I weigh 30lbs. My Foster family thinks that I am part Pug/Beagle and maybe even have some Daschund in me too. What I Love: *People/Kids! Beagle    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi! I'm Marge! I am an older beagle girl who is looking for a new home to call my own. I was brought into the shelter when my owner was overwhelmed with my new needs. The doctor said I have kidney disease. That means I will need special food and medicine to feel better. I think I'm an easy gal to get along with, though. I like other dogs, big and small. And I like all humans, too, even the little kind. My favorite thing to do is sleep! Do you like to take naps, too? Maybe we could be napping buddies! And don't forget about snacks, as I love those, too! I'm not a fan of crates or baby gates, and I do need to potty often, so my ideal home ... Rescue Me ID: 18-04-09-00186Zeus (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

We've had Zeus, our bluetick coonhound, for 7 years and he's brought my husband and I a great deal of joy. We recently had a baby, and he's not taken the arrival well. For 8 months we've tried to work with Zeus, but I think his anxiety, skittish tendencies around some sounds, and serious jealousy of attention make him not right for homes with babies. Zeus is pretty independent. He likes his crate and to go for walks. We rescued Zeus while living in Pittsburgh. He has run races with us and moved 5 times from Pittsburgh to DC to Lewisburg. He doesn't need much - a warm bed, walks, peanut butter every now and then, and some good back ... (Read More)scratches. He's always been skittish and anxious, but that was always manageable until we brought our baby home. We do have a female labradoodle and he tolerates her, but I think he'd prefer to be alone. I really hope we can find him a new home soon. We keep him in his crate or outside when our little man is awake, or completely separate them with baby gates and playards. He really has been a good dog. And, if you love coonhounds and that howl, you'll love his. (Less)

Don't be fooled by 'Spike's' tough-guy, macho name; this pint sized little dude just wants to be held and loved. Spike is a 3 year old, Chihuahua/Beagle mix who was surrendered because he was arguing with the other male Chihuahua in the house; now that Spike is neutered he may no longer feel the urge to prove his manhood; meanwhile--kennel life is a loud, scary place for a shy little guy who stresses out every time the big dogs bellow just because Spike shows his face around the corner.     Buddy is a younger, handsome and energetic beagle who loves to race and play with other dogs. Buddy is listed as special needs because, although he passed a temperament test with another rescue, Club Pet has found that he has a bossy personality and reacts when when someone tries to take his blanket away or tries to make him come in from the play yard. Buddy needs someone who is firm, yet kind, someone who will train him using positive training methods rather than force and punishment. PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in Pennsylvania
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Pennsylvania if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
