Beagle Rescue Information: Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.

Beagle Trivia: The world's most famous Beagle is Snoopy. Beagles were first bred in Essex, England.

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-22-00310Bruno (male)

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bruno is a great Dog, he has a lot of energy and a warm heart. He is a purebred Beagle, with perfect Beagle markings, about 7 years old, he is in perfect health and up to date on all his shots. With a little patience, obedience training, and love he could be the perfect pet. We inherited Bruno in December when my Father in Law passed away. My husband and I live in a small apartment and recently found out we are expanding our human family, and potentially moving in the next few months. At this point we are unable to provide the space, love, and attention that Bruno needs, and I would like to provide. Please help us to find a forever home for ... (Read More)Bruno. My heart aches for this animal and if the circumstances were different we would love to be able to keep him. The adoption Fee is negotiable, my only wish is that he go to a good home with lots of love, space to run, and an occasional Slim Jim (those are his favorite). (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-21-00409Theo (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We want Theo to go to a good home where he will be loved and well taken care of. Theo is a little over a year old and we have had him since he was about 8 weeks old. He's short and stocky and weighs about 60 pounds. For the most part is a very sweet and lovable dog. He's always been good with my husband and I but has recently started to get aggressive towards our other dog. It is usually around food but has happened in a few other instances. When my husband and I are around he is a good, sweet dog. But, we travel a lot and are afraid to leave them at home by themselves. They are left outside during the day and usually brought in during the ... (Read More)evening. We think Theo would do great as the only dog in a family. He has a big yard now, but seems to get bored. He needs a family that can play with him a lot and be very attentive. He's up to date on all of his shots and very healthy. If you are interested please let us know. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-19-00094B-Mo (female)

Beagle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Abused/Neglected

B-Mo is a super sweet girl! She is very timid at first but once she warms up she is good. She is good with other dogs and cats. She is very docile and shows no aggression at all twowardd anyone, but since she was neglected she is very submissive and seems scared easily so a home with kids probably isn't the best place for her. She does have a leg that she doesn't use much. It seems like it was broken at some point in her life and it healed wrong, but she doesn't seem bothered by it and it doesn't hurt her at all. So that's good. She has grown accustomed to having three legs. She loves being outside a lot. She's super sweet and we hope we can ... Rescue Me ID: 17-02-08-00308Sally Ann (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected,
 Fearful/Anxious

Sally Ann was a stray that jumped into my car while I had stopped to get her out of the road. Never found an owner. So Have had her a little over a year. I took her to the vet for vaccs, teeth cleaning and spay. She was also positive for heart worms . Therefore I had her treated and she is negative. I have had her on prevention. About 2 months ago, she started exhibiting aggression to large men with deep loud voices. I can only speculate that she was abused by a man of that description. My son and my friend are both big men with loud voices. So this has really been a problem. I don't know what to do to work with this behavior. Re-homing her ... (Read More)is all I can come up with and I don't want to do that. But neither can I have a biting dog. This is very upsetting. She looks 98% beagle and could be pure bred for all I know. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-02-08-00231Kirstie (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Date into Rescue: 1/12/2017 Reason for being in rescue: Kirstie was placed in a local SC shelter after her owner passed away. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? none noted. Weight: 55.80 - her target weight is 35 lbs Height: est 18' at the shoulder Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? A home that understands that food is NOT love. Kirstie is a simple girl right now with a very low activity level. She has to be - moving that bulk around is not fun. We hope we'll find a happier dog as the weight comes off. Note that on Feb 1, 2017 after the first two weeks on her new ... (Read More)diet food , Kirstie has lost 4 lbs. We're posting updates on our Facebook page as Kirstie gets her body back. If she maintains a 1 lb loss per week, she will hit her target weight in 14 weeks. What is my personality like? Very quiet and low key. We honestly think she will be that way even when thin. She is an even tempered dog with no negative quirks. How I act when I first meet new people: Timid, not sure. Life has changed so much for her recently. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: Est. birth date 12/30/2008 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.     We were called by a nice lady that this dog was in a yard and that people who owned the house wouldn't feed her. She was a stray and of course not every one welcomes them. We went and picked her up and took her to Advanced Animal Hospital where she was given a check up. She had a very swollen leg, paws were all sore with open wounds. She was pretty skinny, under fed for sure. She was placed on antibiotics, pain meds, fecal, heartworm test were done. An x-ray of her leg was done. 253.62 worth of vetting revealed she is heart worm negative, was placed on heart guard, fecal of course showed many worms, she was given medicine for, also given ... (Read More)medicine for nasal mites. We purchased a boot for her foot because it was knuckling. However; foster says that has corrected and all is good. A young lady took her in to foster and she has made a great recovery. She is now ready to find her forever. Foster had hoped to keep her, but can't. Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lil Bit is a 40lbs hound/husky/beagle mix. She loves cuddles and walks, and will do lots of tricks for a treat. She's good at going on runs, but is also more than content to lay around the house. As long as she can be around the humans she's happy! All of her vaccines as well as her wellness exam and heartworm test were given in May. She's been on monthly trifexis for several years. I lost my housing situation last november and have been struggling to get back on my feet. We are couch surfing and living in a tent currently, and with the weather and my non-existent funds I feel unfit to take care of her. She loves cats and humans of any ... (Read More)age/gender. She's skittish about other dogs though, so she'd do better as an only dog - however she can be slowly introduced to the right dog (we stay at a place with one other dog a lot right now). She has sit, stay, speak, hush, high five, and lay down commands. She's incredibly smart, and picks up on routines quickly. I have a crate for her (we don't use it, but if you want it for acquainting her with a new house I've got it in storage) and food and water bowls. The rehoming fee ($20) is only to make sure she doesn't go to the wrong home. She has so much love to give and I know she'll make someone else as happy as she has made me (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in South Carolina
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions.

Beagles are great for hunting pheasant, quail, and hares. Beagles date back to the 1830's
