Animal ID: 18-04-05-00213Buford (male)

Beagle    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

GOT BEAGLE? Meet BUFORD, a 2-1/2 year-old beagle who loves to sniff around the exercise areas here at Save the Strays, then take a nap in his bed. Buford is happy-go-lucky, gets along with the other dogs here at the rescue and enjoys being petted. Like most hounds, he's very food-driven. So, if you get a bag of treats and devote an afternoon, you can probably teach him most of the basic commands. We think he will make a fine family pet who would enjoy snuggling with his adopters and any kids in the family or neighborhood. Buford would do best with a (physically - not wireless) fenced yard, since hounds will follow their noses and take off if ... (Read More)a squirrel or rabbit catches their attention. But he can be walked on leash, if you don't have a fence. If you're looking for a sweet-natured, laid-back dog with a beautiful face and soulful eyes, apply for Buford online at www.savethestrays.org or email info@savethestrays.org for more information. Adoption fee $250. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 18-01-18-00440Little Foot (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Hi, I'm Little Foot! I am approximately 5 months old. He was found with a vine around his paw just days after he was born! He was bottle fed and now sometimes thinks he's one of the humans:) He may be small but don't let that fool you; he's just as playful as any other pup. Little Foot is crate trained and is working hard on house breaking! He loves his toys, he's great with other dogs big or small. And he loves to run and play with the kids.

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Blizzard is from a family member who could no longer care for her. She is an outside dog and stays in our fenced in back yard. She likes to play ball/fetch and is shy around people she doesn't know but warms up quickly. We would keep her, but found out soon after getting her that my wife has a dog allergy and need to rehome her. She is recent on all shots and is spayed. She has no health issues.

Rescue Me ID: 17-11-07-00098Calvin (male)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

At about 4 years old, Calvin needs an experienced, quiet home. He is excruciatingly shy and very slow to trust new people. Even once he learns to trust you, he is still submissive towards you. He is a happy little fella who gets along great with all other animals. He needs to have another dog in his home to help him learn and to help him come out of his shell. Calvin is crate trained, but has never been on a leash and will need someone who is patient and willing to work with him on those skills. He is a major flight risk, so adopters must have a fenced in yard!

PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in South Carolina
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in South Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
