I picked up Roscoe in a parking lot of a gas station begging for food on a 14 degree night. The people in the store said he had been around all day looking for food. He is housebroken, but lacks some social skills like waiting for food, and he is also very clingy as most dumped dogs are. I am training him to use a leash on walks but he has a strong beagle instinct to follow his nose when he catches a scent and really doesn't want to stay on the leash. He cowered alot when I first got him which makes me think he was abused, but is growing in self confidence and seems to enjoy being part of the pack. I took him to the vet and found he ... (Read More)was heart worm positive with an enlarged heart. I am treating him with a regimen of heartworm preventative and antibiotics. He needs dental work and to be neutered but I have to get his heart back into shape before any surgery is performed. He a sweet lovable guy that has big brown eyes and parked himself in my suitcase when I was unpacking from a trip out of town for 6 days. He sleeps alot when he is inside but when he's outside you would think he is a much younger dog. I would love to keep him but I already have 3 dogs and a cat and I am on very limited income. Betty was a wonderful puppy, she was house trained and very compliant. However, she developed food allergies early on and so she requires a specific dog food. Sometimes, she is resistant to go outside- especially when it is rainy outside. Her howl can be disturbingly loud in enclosed spaces but outdoors she usually calms down. She is extremely well behaved around other animals and other people, although she doesn't appear to enjoy very much affection. Found in Smyrna near Rocky Fork & Seminary Road. Male Pitbull/beagle mix. No microship or collar. Sweet temperament, good with all people and kids, rode well in the car, doesn't pull leash, give lots of kisses. He just wants to be loved and wanted... Tail is in bad shape, with scabs & bloody spots. Was covered in fleas, but was given a flea bath & flea collar. A neighbor donated antibiotic pills & Benedryl for his scabs & itching, but he is now in a neighbor's fence until Monday, when they return from vacation. After that, we have nowhere to keep him. Designer dog = Foxagle, Foxeagle - whatever they're calling them - a relatively recent attempt to make the American Foxhound more of a 'people' dog like the Beagle, and also introduce the Beagle's quickness and agility to the Fox Hound's stamina and speed. He has been leash trained and does well, he is also completely housebroken and does not have accidents. He tolerates getting a bath well but is not too happy about having his toenails cut. He will sit, lay down, etc. for treats and has passed other intelligence tests but because of my health beginning to fail right after taking him in I have not been able to really work with him as much as I'd like at all. Beagle Dogs can make good pets in Tennessee if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
