Rescue Me ID: 14-04-18-00179Finley (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Finley came to us as a stray 2 years ago. She has gotten along great with our other basset hound, however upon having a child, we just haven't had the time or energy to keep up with two dogs. We haven't had any issues with Finley inside or outside, although it seems she prefers to be outside. When inside for long periods of time she never settles down, which is part of the reason we're looking for her a new home. She is very sweet and craves attention, sometimes to a fault as she can get a little hyper when seeing you for the first time that day. Jumps up on people a little bit, but not to the point where it becomes a problem, mainly ... (Read More)just when she's excited to see someone. She can be shy around people she doesn't know, but doesn't take long to warm up to them. She definitely has some basset hound in her, however lacks some of the characteristics such as a droopy face, which leads us to believe she has some beagle in her as well. It will be hard to let her go, but we know that finding somewhere where she can get more attention will be better for everyone. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-02-27-00012We call her Gypsy (female)

Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive

She is a stray that showed up in our neighboorhood 2-3 weeks ago. Skittish at first, I lured her in the house with food and she has warmed up considerably. There are indications she has been running loose for at least a month and spanning at least 5 miles in that time. Inquiries near my house and on local Facebook lost pet groups turned up nothing, as well as a chip scan and flyers to all local vets. She was hungry, but not starved, and seems really healthy. She just wants to be near us all the time now that she trusts us. She is very sweet, is house-trained, leash-trained, and rides in the car well. Right now she is staying in our ... (Read More)basement while we are at work and at night, which she seems content to do as long as she gets a good jaunt outside in between and some quality people time in the evenings. All she needs is a stable home with a loving owner. Unfortunately, my wife and I have 3 cats, a small house, and a baby on the way, as well as full-time jobs. We simply can not keep a dog. We are trying to do the best we can for her but are out of options in the search for her owners, so we need to find a home for her. We DO NOT want to take her to the shelter, but we can not keep her, and at some point it will come to that if no-one is willing to take her in. She's a great dog. Please call or email to talk about her. If you want to meet her and see for yourself, we can arrange something. We just want to find a good home for her, and it has to be soon! (Less)

Beagle Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

I am Fred. I am a Small Tan Male Beagle with a Grey Muzzle. I am approximately 7.5 years old. I have had a difficult life. I came into the shelter with a lacerated throat after having been terrorized by a community member. I am terrified of men, however I will allow them to approach me gently now and even pet me if I am in the crate and they are kind and speak in a soft voice. I do excellent on a lead and I know the 'Stay' command. I do well around older children but have never been around small children. I find cats boring and tend to ignore them. I do well w/ most dogs, although I have exchanged dirty looks w/ an unaltered male in the ... (Read More)neighborhood of my foster home. I am crate trained and will go outside to potty, however I do occassionally try to mark on my way out the door. Hopefully, my recent neuter will solve this once my system has regulated. I love to snuggle! I adore women, so any single ladies looking for a furrever furbaby hit me up.;-) The adoption fee for dogs is $125 and that includes: %BD veterinarian examination %BD current vaccines %BD current flea, intestinal parasite, and heartworm prevention %BD spay/neuter %BD a microchip for identification if ever lost or stolen %BD current heartworm test For more information on this pet, please visit our website, swval.org or search for us on Petfinder.com In order to adopt, fill out the adoption application from our website or email us at adopt.swval@gmail.com and we'll send you an application! PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in West Virginia
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in West Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
