Beagle    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Charlotte is such a sweetheart. We have a large fenced in yard where she escapes under fence to run in the field next door, however, we recently got a German Shepherd who is now 8 months old. He would follow her out of fence and saw them in the road. We have had to chain her up outside ever since. She needs to be able to run and can not do it now. She loves to be #1 and loves the attention. She needs someone who has plenty of room for her to run. She does not need to be chained up all day.

I am Sadie. I am a Medium Brindle and Black Female Beagle Mix. I was found eating trash out of dumpster to survive w/ a collar embedded into my skin. There was a large infection around the collar the size of a grapefruit. Surgery was done to remove the collar and I have healed, but it did leave me with some loose skin around my neck. I am shy, but I warm up and when I do I love attention. I would let you pet the hair right off me once I warm up to you. I do well with other dogs. I am housetrained. My foster is working on cratetraining but it is a slow process. I would tear up outdoor kennels when I first came into foster because being penned ... (Read More)frightened me a great deal.     I am Fred. I am a Small Tan Male Beagle with a Grey Muzzle. I am approximately 7.5 years old. I have had a difficult life. I came into the shelter with a lacerated throat after having been terrorized by a community member. I am terrified of men, however I will allow them to approach me gently now and even pet me if I am in the crate and they are kind and speak in a soft voice. I do excellent on a lead and I know the 'Stay' command. I do well around older children but have never been around small children. I find cats boring and tend to ignore them. I do well w/ most dogs, although I have exchanged dirty looks w/ an unaltered male in the ... (Read More)neighborhood of my foster home. PIease Read Before Adopting a Beagle in West Virginia
Beagle Dogs can make good pets in West Virginia if they match your IifestyIe. Beagles are small, energetic hounds with sweet, happy dispositions. Beagles make wonderful family pets. Beagles need to be with people and do not like to be left alone; it is a good idea to have more than one dog if you will be away often. Beagles are great with children but do not do well with cats and other household animals unless they are around them from the time they are puppies. A Beagle needs a decent sized yard to play in and needs lots of exercise. Beagles may wander off easily if not kept on a leash.
